I don't listen to what the fish has to say...some fish better remain dead quiet as the noise they make is deafening 😁

Covid-19 swabbing for about 120 households at Hougang block to start at 1pm

Barricades and chairs were being set up at the void deck of Block 506 Hougang Ave 8 on Friday (May 21) morning to prepare for a swabbing exercise slated to begin later that day for the entire block.

This is after some residents of the 12-storey block were found to have tested positive for Covid-19.

This is the first time an entire block of residents, comprising about 120 households, will be tested for Covid-19 as a precautionary measure.

When The Straits Times visited the Hougang block on Friday (May 21), many residents were surprised that they have to take a mandatory swab test.

Some said they have yet to receive an SMS informing them of the swabbing exercise. Others said they read about the news online.

A resident who wanted to be known only as Ms Q.Z. Tan, 38, only found out that there were Covid-19 cases living in her block after she read an article in The Straits Times yesterday. "They said leaflets were distributed so I'm coming down to check my letterbox," she said.

The IT analyst, who works from home, said that it was the first time she was leaving her flat in a week. As an added precaution, she will also be canceling her weekly visit to her parents' home this weekend.

Another resident, Mr Amos Lim, 29, was shocked when he read the news on Facebook. "Instead of taking away food, we will get it delivered," the construction site engineer said.

Many residents also said they did not know how many cases were linked to the block or who they were.

Meanwhile, several notices of the mandatory swab test were already plastered on walls at the void deck and at lift lobbies. Session one will be from 1pm to 8pm on Friday (May 21), while session two will be from 9am to 4pm on Saturday (May 22), according to the notice.

Residents are to bring along their NRIC and TraceTogether tokens for identification.

can they be more upfront by sharing the info such as why the whole block has to do swap test,  what they have found so far leading to this decision?  what can be expected next ?

It moves down to 40 as well as those btw 12 and 15.

i think it's time to open up to all. they can manage with whatever stock remaining.

it seems some are resistant to vaccine, so let them wait, until they are convinced or not. govt don't have to pander to such people.

Recklessness is exactly the word to describe the handling of the Indian variant.   But it will come at a political cost.

the other thing that will start to rumble for them politically is the prioritization for jabs.  So far there is no priority for citizens and many people are seeing foreigners getting jabbed first, rightly or wrongly. Not talking about frontline but the vacccination for general population.

Which is fine when cases were low but now that the virus is spreading, and jabbing may be the difference between mild and severe covid, and not enough jabs to go around, there sure will be hell lots of noise.

Unless the virus know how to identify the different between locals and foreigners, and only choose to infect locals,  otherwise why are foreigners to not get the jab?

As long as you are human, and lives here, chances of getting infected and become a spreading body is the same, local or foreigner.

Let's be clear about one thing,  the gov did not take away vaccine from locals and give to foreigners, every single human being in SG is given same opportunity of the jab, which is by age grp now.  Many locals choose to pass or wait and see, while almost every single foreigners I know would rush to grab once they were offered.

Don't shoot just for the sake of creating hate or staying in a grp.  Let's get some facts right....

Should make an example of such a**holes. What differentiates humans from animals are characteristics like compassion and empathy. If cannot behave properly like a human then they need whip and cage to educate them like animals.

I'm sure they're more unreported cases but this case happen to go viral on social media recently. I hope this is not the reason why coincidentally they're taken to task now and not earlier.

The wife is an IMH case, according to the article. But yah, no excuse. The husband is normal and yet the same antics, repeatedly.
