One cause of concern if the spread can be via lifts? Doubt it but who knows. Or you have neighbors coughing out of the windows?
maybe need to walk the stairs and Aircon 24/7. 😔

Say until so scary siah. 😅 From this pandemic, looks like either stay on low floor, no need to take lift. Or stay on the top floor where no scare neighbours would cough out of the windows?!

By looking at it, the approach government take now is even more fast. Like suddenly yesterday late at night where all shopping malls already closed for the day and then suddenly announced Jem and Westgate will close for 2 weeks and do deep cleaning. This is like doing a very speedy decision as no need wait till tomorrow afternoon or what then announced. Immediately do it even late at night and need to close it tomorrow morning so be it.

There is still chance that situation can be under control , but that will depends on next few days covid-19 cases. If there are increasing number of unlinked cases that are not picked up though mess testing of people whom had went to selected shopping malls and asked to do swap test and also HDB blocks. Then yeah it went out of control. However if next few days the unlinked cases majority is pickup by mess testing of shopping malls and HDB then okay, that at least is showing that what government is doing is working. So pray hard for next few days covid-19 situation.

We did not do all this during the previous CB - swabbing whole blocks, malls and all that - simply because we did not have the capability at that time. The actions may seem to be very drastic but look at it positively that the whole-of-govt approach here can move very fast without politicking holding up the pace.

The number of unlinked cases here is still quite low by any standards in the world but already we're throwing everything and the kitchen sink at it - might be extreme - but better than too little.

Follow China method of isolation. But China does it even more strictly.
my colleague husband was working in a building with 1-2 confirmed cases of COVID. The authorities then sealed the whole building and did swabbing floor by floor. Until the results were known, no one was allowed to leave the building. This was in Beijing and He was stuck there for 2days.

We did lock down entire blocks but most of you didn’t see it - the workers’ dormitories, and it worked. And it continues to work whenever there is a positive case. Plus, they undergo very regular swab tests so there is a proven formula there despite the overcrowded, less-than-ideal conditions.

The underlying message of mass-testing an entire HDB block is that they suspect the common areas are venues for transmission, either through spitting, hand rails, lift buttons or even enclosed spaces of the lift itself. Our current culture isn’t “kampung” enough to share food amongst each other.

One thing I am very uncomfortable with is the fact that spitting continues to go unpunished when its penalty should be even higher during these times.

Jo Teo sibei heng ar, left MOM when finally got someone asked MOM to apologise. Her father was a lawyer, probably has his gene. Coz she kept all records of conversations and receipts and knows how to use it. Surprised ST didn't paywall this article, coz MOM looks bad.

MOM apologises to ex-DJ Jade Rasif for saying her account of maid's Covid-19 scare was 'inaccurate'

SINGAPORE - The Ministry of Manpower (MOM) has apologised to former DJ Jade Rasif for saying that her account of her domestic worker's Covid-19 scare was “inaccurate”.

In a Facebook post on Saturday night (May 22), MOM said it was retracting its point about Ms Rasif’s account and redacting the word “inaccurate” from its post last Monday.

“We note that the use of the word ‘inaccurate’ and one of the points in our 17 May FB post could have portrayed Ms Rasif to be providing an inaccurate account on the Quarantine Order investigation,” the ministry said in its post.

“She shared with us that this had affected her negatively. We would like to extend our apologies to her for this.”

Ms Rasif’s posts on Instagram and Facebook last Sunday detailed how her domestic helper had been discharged on her third day of stay-home notice (SHN), only to test positive for Covid-19 two weeks later on April 30.

She had raised concerns about whether it was safe for her domestic worker to be released early from SHN, and questioned why she herself had not been put under quarantine.

MOM had initially disputed Ms Rasif’s claim that police officers had called her saying she was under investigation for breaching a quarantine order. The ministry had also said she could not be under investigation as she was never issued a quarantine order.

Ms Rasif then posted Instagram stories last Thursday with screenshots and audio recordings of communications between her and MOM that appeared to contradict parts of MOM’s May 17 statement.

She included a recording of a phone call in which a man, whom Ms Rasif said was MOM “management”, can be heard laughing after Ms Rasif raises concerns about the ministry’s statement.

MOM’s post on Saturday said: “We understand that the police have since clarified with Ms Rasif on the purpose of their calls, and that she is not being investigated for any breach of quarantine orders.”

The ministry also retracted its claim that it had reached out to Ms Rasif’s family on a complaint made against an ambulance driver, whom Ms Rasif alleged had texted her an expletive.

It also said it had called Ms Rasif and discussed the way its officers had handled a call with her last Tuesday.

In its Facebook post last Monday, MOM explained that Ms Rasif’s domestic worker was assessed to be a recovered Covid-19 patient and no longer infectious. She was discharged from isolation on May 9.

Ms Rasif, who is a healthcare worker, told The Straits Times: “I feel vindicated... I’m very satisfied with the apology, and their statement. I’m very happy that MOM is actually looking into things and looking to tighten (its processes).

"I can (now) move on with my life, hopefully in peace. I have never called out the Government, and I have no intention of doing so going forward."

4 units of the same stack at Blk 506 Hougang Avenue 8 (directly above and below each other) have a total of 10 positive cases (including one case detected from the special testing operation yesterday) .

Shades of Amoy Gardens anyone?

Don't need to be an expert to know that transmission via the sewage / plumbing pipes is a very serious possiblity.

The JEM and westgate swabs must've involved thousands of people? But only netted a handful of positives.

I doubt the swabbing of the blocks of residents will reveal anything.

Well it turns out that the special swabbing exercise at Blk 506 Hougang Ave 8 has shown that 4 units of the same stack  (directly above and below each other) have a total of 10 positive cases (including one case detected from the special testing operation yesterday) .

Blk 506 is a slab type of block. It's not a point block, so if all 4 units within the same stack have active cases, it's either airborne or it's spreading via the plumbing.

Even there is penalty on spitting, but also quite difficult to catch them lo. Esp i see those elderly who can spit anywhere and anytime, how to catch them?

Just now when i was out to dabao my lunch, saw one ah lao walk halfway and then took out his mask and just spit on the floor. 😨 Lucky i was at least 2m away from him.
