today 286 case and 24 death.

many death were sudden and discovered after they pass away. The govt is pushing to launch their own vaccine with yet to be approved. If we see them from our standard, they are as good as average, but for them to compare to India and western countries (mostly democratic ones) they think they are like A student [laugh]

They are having 20+ death daily for the past couple of weeks....quite bad. Some med experts are saying that base on the number of daily death, means their current action is not enough to kerb the problem.

they have 1 year to prepare and why they can't get medicine or place order for the vaccine from different source, or even prepare their hospital, equipment, test kits, personnel to standby in case of emergency?

the thing is they have many highly influence business man and advance medical care system, to blame on a conspiracy of a country intervention is just bs, even if true it can only be on the vaccine but not the SOP internally.

Those working in the hospital also not sure what is the actual SOP...cos their gov keep making U-turn.....sometimes 2 U-turn in a day. So they just have to focus on what is in front of them and leave the sorting out of SOP to the gov...until they agree among themselves what should be a proper SOP. Just shows that the gov are equally at lost and cannot agree on what should be the way forward. Some are a little surprise that the daily death has not hit 50-60 cos they are definitely seeing a lot more of COVID related death.

Thailand not allowing export also. Same as India.

AZN has had the most problems with countries not allowing export out of their production facilities. Pharma companies please consider having the facilities here in SG...

Read that Thailand couldn’t meet the numbers agreed with AZ.

Think BNT in Singapore can only start production in 2yrs time.

At end of the day, the gov are focusing on their own interest and agenda, they neglected their basic infrastructure such as water supply and electricity. When the surge of infection hit them, they are not willing to consider other plan of actions and just hope that with time, all the counties will be able to deal with the situation with little or no help from the central committee. Couple with the gov interest in locally developed vaccine that is yet proven to be effective and late procurement of vaccine, they will have to face the grim task of managing their covid-19 cases.

During May period, some Taiwanese commented day time stock market too a beating, afternoon no water, night time power black out. Today afternoon got earthquake. It is like a series of unfortunate events all happening in Taiwan. No need external influence, Taiwan might just self implode if they still do not take concrete actions.

Err a bit too drama lah. If they all lockdown sure can control it regardless of the initial higher death toll.  Just less effective overall. But just become endemic lor.

Honestly,  if Asian 4 little dragons, South Korea, Taiwan, Hong Kong and Singapore were not to go Taiwan and Hong Kong way, today Asia will be in a much better world. Unfortunately,  external power make us disunited with individuals looking at self interest.

TAIPEI (Taiwan News) — Taiwan reported 250 new local COVID-19 cases Saturday (June 12), including 26 deaths, with one imported case.

New Taipei City recorded the highest number of domestic infections for any locality, 133 overall, while Taipei City confirmed 65 cases. Keelung came third with 16 new infections, Taoyuan recorded 13, and Miaoli County nine, following 66 local transmissions the previous day, mainly due to outbreaks at electronics companies.

Of the new local patients, 116 were men and 134 were women, the Central Epidemic Command Center (CECC) said. The youngest new case was less than five years of age, while the age of the oldest was more than 100.

The 26 deceased were 17 men and nine women ranging in age from being in their 40s to over 100. All of them had fallen ill between May 15 and June 9, been confirmed as COVID patients between May 18 and June 11, and passed away between June 4 and June 11.

Taiwan’s total number of 12,746 coronavirus cases included 11,539 domestic cases, 1,154 imported ones, and 411 deaths.

Angry liao

Wow….like that also can. Shouldn’t throw all their problems to a community who is also victim to the virus.

Anyway, all parties should try to work together to fight the fire instead of among themselves. One side need to forgo a bit of their political stake to save lives while the other side should learn that no one is perfect and move forward as long as it is not fundamentally too wrong. But again…easier said than done in a place where politics is almost a way of life.

If you listen taiwan official,  I don't know how to describe them. How did they get voted in? Then it goes back to the people that vote. As outsiders, we only can feel sorry and sad for those that didn't vote this bunch of #&$%£€
