Let me try my best to describe.

Asian style using the thumb and index finger to hold onto the handle with the remaining three fingers as support. Twist and turn using wrist muscles.

Caucasian style due to the size of their hand hold the handle like a hammer grip. Twist and turn lower arm muscles.

angmo style is shakehand. they call AM style  most western power house use this method. u hold the bat like u shaking a person hand. got alot of power in forehand and backhand, but less flexibility.

alot of asian china japan korean power use penhold last time, but now all changing to shakehand also .

penhold is u hold the bat like u holding a pen . alot more flexbility and variation to your shot, esp the serve can do alot of pattern . but weaker in the backhand,  modern china penhold grip use a new style reserve backhand,  very seldomseen outside china.

but strictly speaking TT is invented in the west. i believe penhold grip come from the west also.

Well done YMY! To whitewash Ishikawa is no easy feat.......

But the real threat of Japan, imo,  is Mina Ito.  Having won the mix double gold,  her confidence is sky high now.  Don't think even PRC players would like to meet her.
