Ice cream has to be stored  and transported at around -18°C. This involves specialised equipment when they fly the ice-cream in from overseas and it has to go straight to the cold-chain warehouse from the airport.  Storage at the cold-chain warehouse is expensive,  these are warehouses that maintains at -20°C or below. 

And for the last mile delivery to the stores, they have to use freezer trucks which is not cheap to buy and maintain. The Singapore weather makes all these transportation even much more challenging.

So it is not just the ingredients. A big part of the price really goes to the supply chain and storage

yes. i bot ice cream from SS b4. it had melted and refroze. horrible. i wonder if can refund. ntuc sometimes like that too

Agreed. Once I unwrapped the ice cream and it looked like a roti prata ice cream. Roar... 

especially those ice cream that require aeration to create the volume and soft serve luxurious feel. those refrozen one the volume shrink sia
