This is why we didn't give Gini a long contract.

:D

Things have not started well for Georginio Wijnaldum since his free transfer from Liverpool to PSG.

On paper, it looked like he had played a blinder. His late change of heart saw him avoid the shambles that has since unfolded at Barcelona, and he still gets to play with Lionel Messi thanks to the Argentine’s sensational transfer.

However, he has so far failed to settle under former Spurs boss Mauricio Pochettino. Wijnaldum was hooked at half-time in the draw against Simon Mignolet’s Club Brugge in the Champions League, and only featured as a late substitute at the weekend in Ligue 1.

In quotes reported via the ECHO, Pochettino recognised that the Dutchman has struggled in Paris so far, but reiterated his faith in Wijnaldum:

“This adaptation time is necessary for the club, teammates, and families. As long as his family is not settled in his new life, it is difficult for a player to have the peace of mind to show all his qualities.

"We know that Wijnaldum can do a lot of different things for us in the game.”

Barcelona opted to sign Dembele instead of Salah

FC Barcelona had chosen to sign Ousmane Dembele instead of Mohamed Salah back in 2017.

After a strong stint with Serie A side AS Roma, Salah signed for Liverpool in 2017, which proved to be his breakthrough move.

In 209 games for the Reds, the Egyptian found the back of the net on 130 occasions and provided 39 assists, winning countless individual awards along the way.

Salah also guided them to a long-awaited Premier League title as well as the UEFA Champions League and the Club World Cup, becoming the team’s undisputed star.

However, the 29-year-old’s career could have gone in a completely different direction had things happened a bit differently.

According to Spanish news outlet El Nacional, Barcelona were offered Salah back when he was in Rome for just €40 million. The Catalan side, then led by the infamous Josep Bartomeu board, opted to sign French starlet Ousmane Dembele from Borussia Dortmund.

While there is no denying Dembele’s immense talent, the injury prone winger proved to be somewhat of a liability for Barcelona.

In his four years at the club, 24-year-old missed a whopping 90 games, despite contributing in them winning two La Liga titles.

Gini's ability and contribution may not always be so obvious, perhaps even more so in a club full of "stars".....now the attention in PSG is more on Messi's not very good start and contract rebel Mbappe....

Norwich was very poor not that we were good imo. The scoreline flattered us.

Positive aspects we gave debutant to some kids and game times for taki, Origi etc first team squad.

Guess so too. We allowed Norwich 10 shots while we scored 3 out of 11 shots.

Gordon looks good from the highlights

To be fair, our back four is almost first XI material with the exception of Bradley who gave away the penalty. Hope he will learn from this mistake.

Tsimikas was directly involved with 1st 2 goals. We scored 6 goals over the past 2 games and he is involved in 4 of those. Robbo must be sweating.

Tyler Morton looked good for an 18yo playing in Fabinho position. Let's hope he will progress into first team soon.

Only watched the first half, im bit concern about Ox. He dosent seem to be stepping up. Performed pretty normal in the first half with a few missed place pass that could be more costly in another day.

He is probably stressed with a 16yo as right wing and 18yo playing as right back... :D

Nobody in the right frame of mind will want to go near Barca at the moment... it is a club in total shambles.  Klopp will lose his legacy as a top manager if he dares to try. My gut feel is that he wont be that foolish even if Barca tangles a huge contract, which in itself is highly uncertain. They can't even afford to sack the current manager cos of the severance fees.

Gini's role in Pool is very different from his natural playing style and position.  It is now also uncertain how PSG wants to play him so no wonder he is still bedding in. The focus is less on him and more on Messi, who also cant fit in as yet. But given their intrinsic abilities, it should be question on when and not whether.

for the trip to Brentford, the biggest question in the team selection is probably in the midfield. Besides Fabinho and Hendro, the question is who will start with these 2? The safe hands of Milner or the unpredictable Ox? Jones is also in the mix to be considered. My hunch is Klopp will play safe to play Milner knowing that such away ground like Brentford will be extremely hostile .

Firmino has almost recovered and likely to make the bench. So, the pressure on the front 3 should ease up in the coming weeks..  Taki and Origi's form should also provide added assurance.
