Football fans lived to dream. Football fans are entitled to dream.

What do yours reckon?

City need to win. We (villa) a draw suffix. Pressure will be on city. The longer there are no goal. The greatest the pressure on city. As they pour forward villa can throw them a sucker punch. Villa is good at counter attacking. See how they caused us problem at anfield.

"City leading 2 : 1 into the 90th miuntues. Sterling faulted Danny ing near the edge of penalty box. Up step Phillip C. He curved a free kick into the top right corner!"

😀😀😀😀😀

Takumi Minamino’s goal for Liverpool last night took him past Manchester City’s £100m man Jack Grealish for goal contributions this season.

Despite playing just 186 minutes of Premier League football, it was Minamino’s third goal of the league season. A further four goals and an assist in the Carabao Cup and three goals in the FA Cup have bolstered his tally.

That means he has more goal contributions than Grealish, who has managed 10 in all competitions.

So are we stupid to leave Minamino on the bench or in the stands and not using him more?

He is quite clinical and seemed to be more selfish or more willing to take shots this season.

Will he get his chances next season or be gone in the summer?

Honestly, I hate to see him go as he offers something different to our other forwards and probably an alternative to Firminho.

Klopp keep talking about how its a crime for some players to be not playing more but those players dont even make the bench :D

The presense of Origi and Ox probably took chances away from Minamino. Origi was always the last min striker to summon from the bench and Ox was still playing ahead of Jones.

Minamino was on the bench during the 2-2 game vs Brighton. He was called upon in 87th min probably to help run down the clock. Who knows, maybe if he was given more time, he could have done something in the box. I noticed he is good when the opponent box is under siege and not for counter attack.

He was on the bench in the 2-2 draw vs Spurs where Robbo was sent off. He was not called from the bench, probably to save him for league cup and to allow Tsimikas or a defender to come in.

He started the league cup tie against Leicester and scored the equalizer in 95th min to send the tie into penalties. Then, we lost away to Leicester in the league a few days later.

With his 1 goal every 101min stats, he did well to score in the league cup despite playing ard 100min over the above few games.

Origi, ox and taki I would definitely keep taki. First age and second salary range. I am sure taki is much more economical to retain.

The only issue is whether taki crave first team football. He will definitely be in Japan world cup team. So international call up won't be affecting his lack of gametimes.

He is a good squad player. More in the mode of lallana.

Philippe Coutinho or Ings were substitute in villa last home match. Apparently rested for this weekend match by Stevie. 😁

Agreed. Taki is slightly more versatile and younger. Ox likely to move on and Origi even more certain to leave to join Milan.

With Pool investing in cup games in this season and next few seasons, I think klopp may have a case to request cup-specialist in Taki to stay on. If he chooses to move, I think Klopp will also give him his full blessing. Pool would also not be short-changed since Taki arrived at such an cheap price and he is easily in the 20-30M bracket.

Much will also depend on the current 5 forwards ahead of the Taki in the pecking order.  Diaz, Jota, Mane, Salah, Bobby in the order of how likely they are going to stick around for the next 2-3 seasons.  Pool doesnt seems to be actively in the market to source for forwards so Klopp may be banking on these players to stay put or at most shift 1 out.

The immediate need of the squad depth is probably another CM/DM since the likes of Hendro, Thiago and Milner are entering the sunset years of their careers.  They still can play a good energetic game but probably cant do so 2-3 games consecutively...  the likes of Jones and Elliott may still need some time to mature further. Keita is also entering his last year of contract but the main risks is his fitness record. He has improved significantly and if he continues this trend to next season, I believe Klopp will request for a contract extension since he is not yet 30.

"Honours are even because of Nick Pope. He was outstanding. He's helped his team get a point," Villa manager Steven Gerrard said.

"Moving forward, this club cannot finish 14th again. We need to change things and come back better and stronger next season.

Well, Villa is now at 14th but only 3 points separating the 10th and 14th place now.

Villa don't have to stay at 14th. Beat City this weekend and Villa may just go up a few places!

Minamino has a different role in Pool compared to when he was at RB Salzburg. He was usually deployed as a forward/Striker in Cup games.

At Salsburg, he and Hwang Hee Chan more like wide forward / AM ..... Their counter attacks were fast and effective then !!
