Pool's job at Watford was made much easier as the home team was in shambles, despite appointing a new manager.  Pool had almost 80% of the possession and there were stretches in the game where Pool just kept holding unto the ball until Watford stopped pressing and stood in their formation.  This game should have finished with at least a couple more goals for Pool so the welcome gift to new manager is the mercy of the 5 goals only. Watford was so poor you could hardly believe this is an EPL match.

Pool did what it set out to do which is to be professional and put the game to sword. Just a bit of lack of concentration after the 4th floor as the team decided to put the foot off the throttle abit and Watford did carve out a couple of nervous moments in Pool's pen box.

Bobby scored his first hattrick since 2018 and he is truly up and running for the season.  Salah's 7 goals and 4 assists in 8 EPL games just showed that he is a man on the top of his game in terms of sharpness and form.  He is definitely the best player on form in the EPL and many have argued that he is the best on the planet at this particular time.

a good win but it is just another 3 pts.  Chelsea and City carved out their own wins so the EPL table is taking shape and Pool is still having to chase Chelsea which is 1 pt ahead.   OT is our next game.  Utd and Ole will be under intense pressure to bounce back from their recent poor results/form so take nothing away from this game yet.   Utd couldn't cope with the high press of Leceister all game at the weekend and this is likely clue how Pool will approach the game next sunday.

The team played well, that's for sure. The way the players started the game, was a sharp contrast to the City match. Watford was chasing shadows.

Hope Utd gets a win in UCL this week. Then they will not be under so much pressure at the weekend, and then hopefully we'll get another 3 points.

But first thing first, hope to get a result at AM.

Not sure if we are too humble or what. But I would prefer to meet Watford now rather than 5 games later. Ranieri is a good coach and good luck to subsequent Watford opponents.

Kelleher had an easy match, only needed to make one save from a shot that was quite straight at him, plus that shot by i think Sarr. He had a fingertip to it, pushing it onto the post. Not sure whether it's better for goalies to have more shots at him therefore more chances to make saves (and risk missing one/few) in a tight match, or a one-sided match like this where he had little to do. Just hope that he'll get the necessary experience to mature and become a top keeper, or at least a reliable back-up now - esp given the South Americans' WC qualifying schedule is in such a mess cos of the Copa... so Allison might be stuck now and then.

Top flight experience are not easy to come by, so hope he'll learn as much as possible whenever he has a chance.

Yes, Mane/Salah really seems to be more ready to pass to each other this season. Long may it continue. Bobby doing well is also good news, and hopefully Jota, Mina and Origi will also get some chances now and then, and importantly, take them when they come.

For Kelleher to gain more experience, loan him to Watford when playing return match against Pool at Anfield.   [sly]

He will get all he can get, the experiences from all angles from Pool front three Mani, Salah and Firmino ..... :a-panic:

Think Salah is more relaxed cos he knows that he is at the top of his sharpness and scoring regularly.  Hence, this translates to all these magical moments that he has the audacity to dance around a few players to score. These are instinctive and he doesnt think much when he is doing all these moves. Likewise, he instinctively passes the ball to Mane in better positions to score.

Why Salah tends to frustrate is when he is no longer relaxed, esp in tense games or when he is too preoccupied trying to get to scoresheet, esp in a few games of goal drought. Then he may overthink most of things he does and that's where he appears to be too selfish or too focused on trying to score, and usually this will backfire.   I believe that's one of the key areas which he can improve and it is a good development in this early part of season.

agreed. Am sure Ranieri will improve the squad over the next couple of months. At the minimum, he will ensure that the team can defend as a proper EPL side.  Danny Rose was basically roasted by Salah and taught a lesson of how sloppiness can be punished so badly.

i very long never see a performance as bad as rose liao. they change another guy to mark salah after 30 mins i think.

anw i think Georginio Wijnaldum  is regretting his move t psg liao. barely play any games there

Will we see Milner or Keita facing A Madrid with Fabinho available again?

Though very very unlikely, I hope to see Hendo - Milner - Ox roughing it out against A Madrid. :D

Agreed. And not forgetting that Raneiri had beaten us before, plus Watford was for a period of time, our bogey team... they were the one who brought Pool down to earth when we were running away and thought could go through the season undefeated 2 seasons ago... a thumping 3-0 defeat, i think... that was a wake-up call...

Yup, it's actually quite common that when players try too hard, it will often backfire. Looks like scoring is like drugs... they all need to continue scoring to maintain sanity. Once they have a goal drought, will suffer withdrawal symptoms and then performance will be worse 🤣

The Aletico game will be a litmus test of JK's progress.  AM is the type of team which JK just cant seem to break down.  If ever there was bogey team, this is it.

I think they will try to set a trap for Pool again, like what they did in previous encounters.  Sit deep and be defensively tight, break through the high press and hit Pool with on the counters and score the odd goal. repeat the same after scoring.

IMHO, Pool has to learn to be wiser and pragmatic.  squeezing a draw in this type of game is not the worse outcome. Going there to use our usual high press again will just open to the counters that Simeone will enjoy.  They have prolific strikers in Suarez and Grizemann so they probably just need the odd chance to register.  The only issue is that Pool usually only play well when its high press and counter-press is working...
