I get your point, i have 3 kids, all under 12, but i still do feel we do have to get on with life.

Actuaally my point is whatever policy we propose or support that may compromise the unvax people, don't forget they includes the 400K under 12 children who will also be compromised along with them.So we have to think hard before supporting.

As far as I read, the majority of infected are resulted from being infected from entry through our borders (eg airport / JFWM). Then spread to the community.

So I gathered that majority of locals are doing their best to prevent from being infected.

Once before authorities said that we need 70% of the population to be vaccinated and we can achieve herd immunity then they complain that 1 in 5 of elderly not vaccinated.

We don't need revisionist but we need a clear plan, though difficult. In addition, we should not keep blaming our locals. eg if authorities had communicated better departments, the chance of infection at the Jurong Fishery Market may not have occurred.

It's impossible to be 100% on guard 100% of the time no matter how strict SOP may be. JFP and Changi likely didn't have the tight SOP I would envisage China had installed so, whilst i got into trouble using the word before, it was inevitable at some stage.

Aug 5 (Reuters) - Novavax Inc NVAX.N on Thursday again delayed its timeline for seeking U.S. authorization for its two-dose COVID-19 vaccine but expects to become a major distributor to lower and middle-income countries this year.

It had previously said it would seek emergency use authorization (EUA) from the U.S. Food and Drug Administration in the third quarter of 2021 but now expects to file in the fourth quarter.

Novavax shares dropped around 7% in after-hours trading.

"It's a matter of getting validation work done" to demonstrate consistency in the vaccine's manufacturing process to the FDA, said Chief Executive Officer Stanley Erck during an interview with Reuters.

He added that other countries' regulators have been more aggressive in moving Novavax's vaccine through the authorization process.

The company said it has filed for regulatory authorization for its shot in India, Indonesia and the Philippines.

"Initially, our doses may be prioritized to low-income countries, where we'll be able to support critical unmet demand for primary vaccinations," Erck said during Novavax's quarterly investor call.

Despite promising clinical data, the Maryland-based company has lagged rival vaccine makers such as Pfizer Inc PFE.N and Johnson & Johnson JNJ.N. It has repeatedly delayed regulatory filings and the timeline for ramping up production as it struggled to access raw materials and equipment needed to produce the vaccine. (Full Story)

Erck said Novavax remained on track to produce 100 million doses per month in the current quarter and 150 million doses by the fourth quarter.

Erck told Reuters the company is on track to submit a regulatory filing in the United Kingdom in September followed within weeks by submissions in Australia and Canada.

Separately, Novavax said a single booster shot of its vaccine given six months after an initial two-dose regimen, elicited a 4.6-fold increase in antibodies.

According to Erck, the company will file a separate application for booster shots with the FDA once its emergency use authorization submission is processed.

"We appear to have got past (certain) supply issues and are now being able to produce at scale," Erck told Reuters.

Novavax has already manufactured tens of millions of shots and is not worried about them expiring before they are approved for use because the vaccine material is kept frozen, Erck said during the investor call.

The drugmaker said it has expanded its late-stage U.S. trial to include pediatric patients and has enrolled more than 2,000 volunteers between 12 and 17 years old. Both rivals Moderna MRNA.O and Pfizer have already initiated trials of their vaccines in children under the age of 12.

In May, FDA authorized the vaccine developed by Pfizer and its German partner BioNTech 22UAy.DE for use in children ages 12 to 15 years while Moderna's application for use of its vaccine in teenagers is under review.

Novavax reported a net loss of $352 million, or $4.75 per share, for the second quarter of 2021, far higher than its net loss of $18 million for the same period in 2020. Its second-quarter revenue was $298 million.

Anyway, Sg is going to let the infection numbers go up.  As long as not too many vaccinated people die, it is going to be acceptable.  Unvaccinated ones (by choice) if they are more likely to die, it is their personal choice.  As long as they don't occupy the ICU/beds for too long.  Meanwhile treat them like outcasts, don't let them go restaurants and most places.  Make life miserable for them.  This is the way forward.

To protect those unvaccinated by choice, and for public health, they should also be barred from public transport,  supermarkets and wet markets.

Indeed they are treating covid as normal flu. Positive but no symptoms or still well, just quarantine yourself for 14 days and you will continue back to your normal life. No need worry no need scare even if u are positive. But only for those who are fully vaccinated. Those who are unvaccinated, you better 好自为知，自己保重. 😅

Suggest bus companies run special services with lorries for them. Contractors have good experience. They can be roped in to operate.

The HK idea of antibody testing is a good one, from recognised test labs......not sure these can also be faked but there are arrival checks as well.

I suppose if results are different, jail, fine and/or deportation can be options.

Hope they can ensure all incoming travellers are fully vaccinated as well. 

I think government approach might be, once a certain % target of population that are vaccinated. These restrictions will be removed. Maybe 85% maybe 90%.. 

 

Then these reminding few % is really on their own. If they are really so ti ki, then let them be. It's their lives anyway.
