Homicide. Whether it is murder depends on intent and that'll take some time to determine.

no need to speculate and guess what had happened, it is a tragic that affect 2 families. Just let the police do the Job and give the affected families some privacy.

Agree with you.  Either side of the parents would be devastated.  Feel sad for both parents and both boys especially the deceased and his parents.

Really shocking to me. 😭😭😭

Was told by my daughter that her friend who was in the same school was traumised although she didn't see anything.  They were having lessons when it happened.  Suddenly principal made announcement to lock the doors and windows.  They only found out thru social media what had happened.  The students  were only released at 4pm.

All they wanted was to go home quickly but were greeted with reporters all waiting to take photos and  interview them.  Damn poor thing.  Hope the affected students be given support and help.

Seems that many are saying the weapon is an axe , I don’t really know if what type is used but having used a regular axe only a couple of times and I found it not easy to use unless you are Daniel Boone ( the famous lumberjack of the 70’s ) , need a lot of time to chop as it’s not very sharp and meant for only hard objects like wood and veneer ( grain ) angle  skills of splitting  ……. Otherwise it’ll just bounce off like a hammer with a slight cut in the skin  - my 2 cents

It is SOP for the police to charge him. From this it means he did kill the 13yo. What police will do now is to establish the motive behind the killing and present it with the murder weapon in court.

To me there is the possibility that the 16yo killed the wrong boy.  I am guessing he could be targeting a bully who supposedly agreed to meet in the boy's toilet. This 13yo is just unlucky.

Saw reports saying the boy was just waiting for the 1st person to come into the toilet and kill him.. just some senseless random attack, very similar to school shootings in the US..

Unverified Timeline of Events from various sources

1124h: attacker changes his whatsapp status to "last words are for those with regrets"

Between 1124h and 11.30h: attacker takes an axe from the scouts room and hides in a toilet, apparently with the intention to kill the first person that walks in.

1130h: attacker attacks the first person that walks in, a sec 1
11:30+h: attacker calmly leaves the scene, walks to the water cooler to wash off the blood; tells other students to call the police and that he just killed someone

There are about two counsellors in each school. As the number of people involved are huge, the counsellors might be overwhelmed too.

Bullies are every where, in schools, work places, homes, parliament (it depends on ones perception), and even in this forum! But it is not safe and not fair to speculate before the facts are out.

In this particular case, initially people opined that the bully was killed by the bullied, which most likely is not true, as the report mentioned the the attacker and the victim did not know each other. It is more of a case of random attack - the first one to enter the toilet! So any one could have been the victim!

Why? I hope the IMH could shed some light on the cause.

We act as if we are not prepared. We have reported over the recent days, months and year.

The constant lockdown, e-learning, anti-social messages, etc as a consequence of this pandemic had and will lead to members of society especially our children difficulty in coping with social interactions, failures and etc.

Many of the kids have e-class without face to face teaching and not forgetting close to or violent e-games where life is cheap as you exterminate your opponents with any lethal weapons you earn in the games. Reality for some become blur with virtual reality.

In addition, we have in flux of foreigners bringing in their own culture and moral values that certainly rub on to many of our locals. Some of these influence may be good but certainly some are undesirable.

It is inevitable that every few years or decades we will witness one or two hideous crime being committed and this happened to be one of them. Its the nature of things but though unacceptable we can run away from it or pretend it does not exist.

Having periodic campaigns without "bite" and monetary fines eg returning food trays in eateries will not lead to a gracious society but only lead to compliant society because of fear.

If we continue as a society with a relentless pursuit of economic gains be it as individuals or as country as whole without investing in society (software), expect a very cold, heartless and by the books society eventually.

Support your local newspaper, when our readership improves further we can use the media to educate the public on what it meant and constitute a gracious and caring society. Go out and buy your ST today and if you feel generous buy another copy for your neighbor.

Why the boy must wash the blood off at a water cooler and not in the toilet itself since he is already inside the toilet?

to "display" to all that he is brave - sense of inferiority complex in the boy.....think maybe "home" environment is difficult....think maybe father/mother not there for the boy...

sad case…[:(]...whatever it is RIP and my condolences to the family, may the Lord grant them strength to get through this difficult time for both families...[smallcry]

show how bad ass he is? seriously why tell other students to ka diang wei to police? 1 is enough? if like us shootings, will definitely try to keep going on the rampage as long as got bullets, or keep swinging his axe. stopping at 1 does not fit the profile of those kids in the us shootings in school.
