Fire at Tampines St 81 Coffeeshop

Massive fire reported at a Tampines Coffee shop.

Fire broke out this afternoon at Tampines St 81 coffeeshop this afternoon. 

Above the coffeeshop is car park. Car owners super sway..

Fire was seen on the exhaust duct at the top of the building and later spread to the bottom. It was a built in duct through the MSCP and up to the roof, looks like the coffee shop did not maintain their exhaust duct and the oil inside caught fire.

the workers for that stall doing cooking? how come they stand there looking at the fire? no action to put it out immediately?

strange they stand there no urgency like that..

I speculate that someone burning offerings for the Hungry Ghost festival.

Fire too big for commoners to fiģht already.

Need to wear the the O2 tank, if not may caused smoke injury.

Thought the festival opening ceremony only occured last night at midnite? Was out for late night run and saw offerings being prepared by the various shops.

There would be some kiasu ones who started a bit earlier.

Times are bad now for coffee shops. Some old-fashioned coffeeshop operators might have hoped to appease the hungry ghosts by burning offerings earlier so business can be good comes 10/08 when dine-in restrictions are eased.

Are these stalls equipped with proper fire extinguisher? Not those small hand-held cans that look like insecticide spray - that one no use against a fire of this size.

Anyway, true, all risk and no reward. At the most photo come out in newspaper when scdf present you with award and certificate!
