ManU 4 (Ronaldo x 2 / Bruno / Lingaard) - New 1 (EPL-Home)

All three new signings started the game with Varane and Sancho giving good accounts of themselves, with debutant Ronaldo scoring his and the first goal off Greenwood's strike which Newcastle's goalie scoffed and landed in front of Ronaldo to make 1-0 at the stroke of halftime.

A lapse by Maguire and Varane in not clearing the ball gave Newcastle the equalizer in the 56th minute but it was the man whom all came to watch when Ronaldo scored again off Luke Shaw's solo run and pass which Ronaldo put through the goalie's legs for his brace. A quiet Bruno came to life when he scored in the 79th minute and the revived Lingaard put the game to bed when he made it 4-1 in the final minutes of added time. Apart from Ronaldo, it seems De Gea is still the number 1 choice for Ole, given the saves and improvement he's made in this new season.

Well done Ronaldo! The 1st goal was a tap-in and the 2nd goal was the type we used to see him scored very regularly in the past (quick run plus a powerful shot at keeper). Welcome back!

A little disappointed with Sancho and Greenwood though. Sancho wasted a few passes and he did not try any risky "take-on people" drives that we know he can. He played too conservatively for a winger. Greenwood was too 1 dimensional in his play. 100% of the time he went in from the right, did not go to the by-line but always turn to the middle, which was super crowded. All the defenders know where he will run next and all his moves failed.

Bruno and Pogba worked very hard but were quiet most of the time. Matic can carry the ball well and his distribution was fine, but he was caught every time Newcastle counter-attacked.

A special mention to Newcastle's Almiron! He was super pacy and direct and we almost couldn't deal with him. That's a fine player.

Not sure why man u bought a specialist right winger and play him on the left..b4 that wales guy was a left winger most of his career and was played on the right wing...

Seems like in order to put mason in...2 players were played out of their best position? Sacho n pogba...

But as long as the 3 points are rolling in...i dun care even if de gea is played as striker beside ronaldo

We now have quite good players in the first team:

David de Gea / Henderson - DDG used to be the best goalie and Henderson is more than a good cover

AWB - limited attacking play but good at defending

Shaw - improved massively. Pacy and good delivery of final ball. Probably world class today

Maguire - tower of defense. Always a threat at corners

Varane - world class centre back. Another serious threat at corners

Pogba - an enigma. Can be very special but sometimes short of effort. Can I say he is world class too, if he wants to?

Bruno Fernández - the engine of the team. Risk-taker. Good at set pieces

Sancho / Rashford - jury is out for Sancho. He typically plays better in the second half of the season. Hope to see the Rashfood version before his shoulder injury soon. He was spectacular then with his pace and finishing. 1 of my fav players

Greenwood - up and coming. I find him too one-dimensional and he needs to change his attacking approach to confuse the defenders. I expect more from him

CR7 - though 36 but he takes care of his body so well. He ran 20mph during 1 sprint against Newcastle. Expect a lot of goals from him this season

======

Obviously our CM or DM is weak, and OGS is very risk-adverse in his game play (I very much prefer Fergie's attacking game) which didn't allow some of his best players to attack the defenders at will. Sometimes when we attack, defenders will make mistake and that's how we used to score a lot of goals. Hope to see more risks taken during tight games.

Still think it is City's title, but hope I'm wrong.

ManU 1 (Ronaldo) - BSC Young Boys 2 (Champions League Grp F - Away)

The first match in this group stage comprising BSC, Atalanta and Villareal (whom we play next on 30 Sept). With Ronaldo as CF flanked by VDB and Sancho with Bruno just behind, it was Lindelof instead of Varane to pair with Maguire and De Gea between the posts. It only took 13 minutes and a pin-point pass from Bruno to Ronaldo, who again slid the ball through the goalie's legs to make it 1-0 and with the straight red for Wan Bissaka for a studs-to-ankle tackle, Ole brought on Dalot for Sancho to beef up the defence for the 2nd half.

The Swiss came on with confidence in the 2nd half and their fervour paid off when they equalized in the 66th minute and won the game with the last kick of the game, when Lingaard made a sloppy back pass to De Gea for them to score and made them deserving winners, graduating from boys to men.

ManU 2 (Ronaldo / Lingaard) - Whu 1 (EPL - Away)

With Greenwood for Sancho and Mctominay for VDB in the previous match, it was West Ham who had a compact defence and scored first in the 30th minute off a deflection off Varane's foot that sent DDG the wrong way. It was only a minute later that Rolando equalized off the rebound from his side-footed kick that Fabianski couldn't hold onto, again from a pass from compatriot Bruno, making it even-stevens at half-time.

Not much in terms of penetration in the 2nd half and Ole subbed Greenwood and Pogba for Sancho and Lingaard in the 73rd minute and then Matic for the ineffective Fred, with Lingaard making amends for his sloppy back-pass in the previous CL match, to score with a nice curler into the top right corner in the 89th minute. The drama and irony when Ronaldo's three claims for a penalty and awarding a penalty to West Ham for Shaw's outstretched arm with the amazing save by DDG, will surely cement his place as the first choice keeper for Ole. GGMU!

ManU 0 - WHU 1(League Cup 3rd Round - Home)

The 2nd-stringers were given match-fitness and game time with Heaton in goal, Lindelof, Bailly, Telles, VDB, Dalot, Mata and Martial as CF with Sancho and Lingaard on the flanks but it was again West Ham who were the dominant side and made it count in the 9th minute when Telles was unable to mark his opponent allowing them to score and take the lead till half-time. It's becoming the norm that we're allowing our opponents to dominate and keep us on the backfoot and taking sometime to get into the rhythm of the game.

The 2nd half saw Mata being subbed for Greenwood in the 61st minute and as usual, Ole only making crucial substitutions of Lingaard and Telles for Bruno and Elanga late in the 72nd minute. Out of the League / Carabao Cup with one less silverware for Ole, and whilst having a good problem for replacements in all departments, it may prove to be his downfall in having to offer game time to players that other teams find unsuitable; at the expense of the better and talented ones at his disposal.

ManU 0 - AVL 1 - (EPL - Home)

The usual first eleven, with Pogba on the left in place of Sancho and both McFred in midfield were slightly better in terms of pushing forward but at the expense of the injured Luke Shaw being replaced by Dalot in the 34th minute. A goaless first half with Aston Villa having more of the better chances.

Another replacement for the defence for Maguire with Lindelof and later McTominay for Cavani in the 80th minute and it was Aston Villa who scored the all-important goal off a corner in the 88th minute. A disappointing penalty miss by Fernandes in the final minutes, when he skied the ball into the stands made it another bad start for Ole in not getting the expected results in the new season, with his new signings.

Not  a bad start as still on same points as city and Chelsea

But the issue is their points were not from games with the Big Boys

True, the downfall last season was exactly similar when MU lost to teams that we were expected to beat (easily) ☹️
