It will be alot easier for ETH if Maguire is taken out (of the equation) altogether for someone better to work with Varane, Lindelof etc, since Bailly and AWB may also not fit into his system of play. Although Ajax drew the last game, their defensive record is the best in the Eredivisie in terms of goals against.

EPL different level compared to eredivise

Confidence factor is missing throughout the team.

Almost all their defenders are internationals with 2 national captain defenders

Yes, highlighted above in agreement. MU's players could also do with a Passion Card :)

ManU 0 - Crystal Palace 1 (EPL - Away)

Last game of the season and with both Ronaldo and Saancho injured and ETH in attendance, it was Cavani with Elanga and Hannibal to lead the attack. While Elanga had better chances on the right, it was Dalot having a torrid time containing Wilfred Zaha on the left and allowed him to score in the 37th minute and taking the lead into halftime.

An early change in Hannibal for Mata and later with Fred and Dalot for Shoretire and Genacho did not pay dividends and the dismal failure of Rangnick has made MU worse off than Ole's reign. Fortunate that Brighton won 3-1 against West Ham for MU's next season's Europa League and also ETH's mammoth task in pre-season to work his magic.

To be fair, looking at the line up and sub bench, didnt think man U was going to win

For all the money they pumped in, sad to see bench comprised of several inexperienced youngsters, in a match that will decide Europa league

Cavani just returned from Injury, Hannibal first start, Mac fred midfield, Elanga is still raw

Look at city and pool, when they were down, their experienced players stepped up

man u board need to change, i think sir alex is doing more harm then good.

since he retire, man u spend 1b on transfer. u look at their lineup now, like no body. and relying on a 37 and 34 year old striker that both going to leave.

Looks like ETH will still need CR7 to continue with the goals to show he can maintain their hopes, while restructuring.

Supercharged
(edited)

I think what Man U first need to do, even before talking about player transfer is to rebuild back that cohesive spirit within the team.  Clearly, that was lacking over the entire season as can be seen on the pitch.

Remember that during Fergie days,  he built a team that was so cohesive, people called it "class of 92";  they were so cohesive and truly fought for each other.

Well said

But to build cohesion, needs to know who are really staying and who are leaving. Without a finalised squad, not easy with so much uncertainty.

Class of 92 was the batch of youngsters, which include Beckham, Neville, Scholes, Butt. Like Class of 22 is the Youth team that just won the Youth Cup, includes Garnacho, Rhys Bennett, Marc Jurado, Kobbie Mainoo, Charlie McNeill, etc

Guestimate is that 7-9 players will leave for a variety of reasons, and maybe 3 players will be signed. Maybe 4 maximum, if we can get good enough money for players we sell, and there is someone to getable that ETH wants.

It should be more of less that + some youth team players that are deemed worthy of promotion to the first team.

Im hoping that James Garner is able to step up to the DM position, which would free up lots of $ to spend in other positions.

Also hope we can bring in a solid medical professional that can keep Varane healthy for the entire season. That in itself would be a massive help to the team.

With ETH's system of youth promise, there are suitable academy players for him to blood-in for a season and we should be able to see better results in the next and also good that some of them look up to CR7 for motivation and expertise. As for Varane, he's has been a disappointment as compared to Sancho in reporting sick frequently.

Personally i feel this is a mistake.

If a few years ago still reasonable. Betting on cr7 is betting on instant success/ short term bet. Man u too desperate to find back the glory days during sir alex time.

See last 5 years , 0 trophy, its obvious its not working, They need plan long term,

Not to mention cr7 form is dipping, His contribution to the team , other then goals, got almost nothing else.

I saw a report on all EPL striker, cr7 is the laziest btm number 2 . ( in term of tracking back ,high intense pressure of defenders etc etc ) this type of players dun work for top teams in modern football already  .

CR7 is luxury player, but replacing his goals, even if its the only thing he brings to the team, will be expensive. Money not limitless so the priority would be to bring in players to ensure his goals count for 3 points instead of 1, 1 point instead of 0. Following season then will likely find some striker to buy or hope someone in the youth team can step up.

Exactly, as ETH would be able to maintain some glory with CR7 and restructure the team meantime to find a replacement during his last season and perhaps move on to a coaching job or join the other greats as a pundit, being "GOAT" and all. As Beregond said, MU needs team-pressing instead of a player-centered system.

ManU 4 (Sancho / Fred / Martial / Pellestri) - Liverpool 0 (Pre-season Friendly - Rajamangala Stadium, Bangkok)

In this first of six pre-season friendlies, confidence reigned after Sancho opened the floodgates in the 12th minute followed by a magnificent lob by Fred and then Martial's morale-boosting goal towards the end of half time for a 3-0 lead. Good to see our players fit and eagerly pressing into Liverpool's half, with Sancho spear-heading the attacks playing on the right and Rashford in his preferred and rightful position on the left.

New-signing Tyrell Malacia (ex-Feyenoord at 13m pounds) made his debut in the 2nd half with second-stringers (Bailly, AWB, VDB, Telles) and the academy players, Amad, Elanga, Savage, etc while Liverpool (who play Palace here this Friday) saved the best for last with Mo Salah, Van Djik, Thiago, Fabinho, TAA, Keita, Konate etc. We held them off well with Bailly outstanding in defence when he intercepted a pass and sprinted from midfield to pass to Amad who then squared the ball for Pellestri to score the 4th goal in the 76th minute, after DDG was replaced by Tom Heaton. Bodes well for Ten Hag going forward, even if he can't get more new-signings especially for the midfield (VDB was disappointing again) to mentor the existing players into potential champs, with the score-line just being a bonus.
