Their term Autopilot is actually the typical ADAS stuff which most cars already had. The one which you are referring to is probably their FSD - Full Self Driving which is an optional extra.

Correct that's the one i'm referring to , that's still in Beta stage.. yes an optional extra..

in other countries

electric cars are cheaper than ICE because of government subsidies

in singapore

electric cars are still more expensive than ice even after government subsidies

because car tax is based on OMV

maybe still 20K more than ICE for same car.

20k can buy a lot of petrol at $2.5 per litre = 8000 litres

8000 x 10km/l = 80,000 km

so still have savings ?

electricity is free ?

or buying a electric car to save earth ?

In about 4 years time, remember to +20k or 45k to the current $113k / 150+k price, cos no more Early adoption rebate and might not have VES.

perhaps. but if Govt is servious about going full EV then they should still provide incentives for ppl to switch

How can a car with 300bhp ever be cheap in Singapore?   cheap, fast and good are words that simply do not belong together.

You're quite right. Even in the US, FSD is still very much a Work In Progress. Tesla SG offered it as a S$11k add-on now.

Meaning customer can pay upfront first, and use it with limited functionality until 5G starts here?

It has to be expensive as it is a cheap very fast car.

As mentioned, the accident record for Tesla would not be low

a car which is quiet and fast may give a total false sense of safety and security to the person inside.

Its usually not the top speed in SG that gets people into accidents, its the acceleration .

Purchase price is somewhat lower due to early adoptor grant, and cutting out the blood-sucking middleman dealers, that cream off $50k a pop. Not that it is a particularly cheap car vis-a-vis the regular junior executive sedans.

But yeah, the road tax, the insurance and even the excess will shock the typical buyers of regular junior executive sedans. The road tax and insurance of a M3P over 10 years, can probably pay for a brand new Cat A BnB sedan at today's prices, assuming you got 50% NCD, I.e. knocking on 6 digits already. Don't even know insurable or not, if say 0% NCD.

Haha....
