Now, people who wanna retire in Msia has one more reason. Can buy cheap Porsche as their retirement drive.

Currently, Macan in Malaysia is about RM600k.

Maybe RM100k saving with local assembly.

PR or EP holder cannot drive foreign registered car.

Otherwise, you will see a lot of Malaysia VRN BMW.

Malaysia demand would not justify  them to set up an assembly plant  there, the out put  should  serve the Asia region at least, and likely are the  more popular lower end models.

If Porsche put in place stringent  quality  specs,  there should be no concerns on quality  , it is like iPhone being made in China or Nikon made in TH, this is especially so when the plant is an assembly plant, not a production plant.

The reason of setting up plant here is to defray production  cost to improve profit, i don't think they will sell them much cheaper,  and for SGP, the ARF and COE will kill the price,  don't expect an import car to be cheap.

There is always FTA and CECA for malaysia to join leh ? Thats how we have good trade ties no? we already setting up a hyundai EV plant so most likely yes.. ...

In reality , if there are made in China right hand drive Porsche, I am sure there will be PIs to bring them in and I am also  sure there would be buyers, so don't conclude it too early.

Will there be PI models?

IMO, there must be significant savings for this..

Or our local AD might take their cars from Kedah too..

Not a bad thing, but looking at Mercedes, none of their Kuantan made cars made it to SG...

Merc, made in Malaysia..

owner will feel ashamed bro if ask by in-law .. ha ha.

BMW assembled in Msia is exported to Philippines ONLY.

No, i think they sell in local market called “CKD” model. Same model imported is called “CBU” model, with some ~10% price difference.

EP holders staying in My (say JB) can drive My registered car into Sg (I guess those cars to be outside few hours or something), while PRs cannot at all times.

MM2H. Retire in old folk's home in JB and own a brand new, cheap Porsche there.

Import charges and ARF prices will still be too high to bring into Sgp even if they are made in Malaysia.

From authority POV, the driver has to be non-PR or non-citizens.

Foreign car in Singapore is subjected to VEP.
