I think so too.

His wife just gave birth to their 2nd child.

he's not passed yet which is not surprising given the time he took off to pursue all these.

It's very competitive. U have 3 years/tries to pass the exam. Happens once a year.

And then u need to get offered a position also. Which is another competition by itself.

SRY managed to secur sponsors cash money, Gurkha will get prize money too, if go below 6:58.  I think  the item 3 will not have anyone claiming it.  Item 1 maybe possible and item 2 is most probable.

The fastest  Gurkha will be running on Oct 10, but don't know what time.

The three S$1,500 cash prizes will be for three categories.

1. S$1,500 for first full-time national serviceman or regular military serviceman who runs 2.4km under 7 minutes.

2. S$1,500 for first Gurkha who runs below the current Gurkha record of 6 minutes 58 seconds

3. S$1,500 for first Singaporean man who runs below current Singapore record of 6 minutes 53.18 seconds

Oh yah, if the Gurkha has a Sg IC, he is also considered Singaporean although he don't qualify for the prize. It may still be a SG record I think

Correct, i think one of the conditions is that they cannot settle here. That's why they stay in separate community from us.

Nonetheless, for their important service towards our security, i always feel they deserve more to be PR or apply for citizen, than those free-loading so-called foreign talent with possibly fake qualifications and dubious records.

I  always feel a chill down my spine

whenever I see a Gurkha with his Kukri behind his backside

i think they are more elite than SAF commandos.

Yes u r right, of all foreigners working here, the Gurkhas deserved to get a PR for their contribution towards our nation security, or at least let them choose btw going home or giving them a PR to stay here upon retirement.

Many will argue they r paid to do so but then u gotta see their employment here in the right context, they n their predecessor r paid peanuts to do some serious security work here since the 1950s, just look at the little india riot where they fan out fearlessly, even the ah neh see them also siam far far away.. haha.

Lol....ultimate facepalm

This case, got nothing to say [laugh]

Nothing to do with him, he go and stick his nose in.

Looks like something personal from the way he pursued it relentlessly.

A simple apology would have probably saved 180k and more.

I repeat my statement of him the last round. "It was not necessary"

Not necessary for him to put that kind of challenge highlighting the Army and Commandos

Not necessary for him to go call people liar and dishonest......and now got to pay $180k. It may not be a super huge sum but I takes a lot of hard work to make $180k

while i respect his 7-min challenge, this case is a painful lesson for him and any aspiring keyboard warriors out there. this behaviour really exposes his acute short dick syndrome considering he actually won the gold in the race concerned.

fart can anyhow let out but words cannot anyhow say out 屁可以乱放,话不能乱讲
