I think not keeping in the lead pack and running alone broke him.  For a big part of the race he was running alone,  nobody for him to hide behind....  [laugh][laugh][laugh]

Like you said, they started too fast.

This is Adola Split:
1st half: 60:48

2nd half: 64:57

First half I saw the pacers were pushing very hard,  and then saw the timing looks good,  but slowly the pacers drop out one by one.... [laugh][laugh][laugh]

Guye Adola and Gotytom Gebreslase Win the 2021 Berlin Marathon

https://www.runnersworld.com/races-places/a37740024/berlin-marathon-2021-results/

"Part of that was because of the weather; the sun beat down throughout the race, and temperatures climbed from 16°C/60°F to 21°C/69°F. But the chief reason was a first-half split that bordered on madness: 60:48. Never before had the opening half of a marathon been run so fast. When four athletes crossed the halfway mark behind pacemakers, it was clear the later miles would bring either something truly historic or something gruesome for the runners at that pace. In the end, it was the latter."

Honestly, our humidity is not too bad.

Places like HK or Shanghai is even worst during summer.

I enjoyed running in places like Taipei (in January) or Lake Kawaguchiko (in Nov).

Kipchoge wr splits were 61:06 and 60:33....the latest split was faster slightly. Think more to do with the weather than the pace.

They are Temperate countries with Seasons and Sg is Tropical ....... all year round literally the humidity is high and our heat ...... lets not even go into it but we are kind of acclimatized to our weather whereas the AngMohs will faint here or even be fatal IF hydration is not maintained and everytime one drinks to replenish it slows them to a certain extent

There are some younger ones with great potential also, but in term of mental strength, discipline, and target focus, currently got to be him only. [laugh][laugh][laugh]

It is a bit tough for him to break 2 hours.  Pacers have to run at 4:35/km for 21km.

I am not sure how many can tong so long.

Break 2:01 is possible.  His Tokyo Marathon timing is a good indication.

How these ppl get the energy to run so fast and so long distance?

Other ppl have to ride a motorbike and drive a car to follow behind that black dude in the marathon. I think he dont even need to drive or take public transport back home. Just put on his Nikes and run to the destination and run back. Leaves no carbon footprint.
