An explosion at the Tuas Incineration Plant is believed to have killed one person and seriously injured two others on Thursday (Sept 23) afternoon.

When The Straits Times arrived at the scene at Tuas Avenue 20 at about 4.30pm, several police cars and at least six Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) vehicles were spotted in the compound.

A worker told ST that one person died in the blast.

Of late, it seems there is a noticeable increase in fatal industrial and public bus accidents. What could have been the cause? Manpower shortage? Covid?

Not only us "true blue Singaporeans" have beeb trapped here, a significant portion of the people living here are either expatriates from atas countries, or from neighbouring countries, but most importantly (in my opinion) are the blue collar guys living out of dormitories helping us build our countries.

They've been under a lot stress with lockdowns, segregations and quarantines while dealing with bad news coming over from their hometowns, and no release or end in sight.

All these could play into their minds, along with their employers' while trying to get the job done.

Mistakes are bound to happen.

News article said the explosion was localised in an electrical switch room. Could be an electrical arcing event. Can also result in severe burns and injuries from the pressure wave.
