The demands for Cat B, D and E are high and quotas are still being reduced. 2021 to 2023 will be tough years for non-luxury car dealers. yes, I did some checking before and was shocked to see the sales volumes tumble badly even for the likes of Toyota , Honda etc - this was during the low coe quota period. i expect the same will happen again. heards some ad like komoco had already halved their sales force. maybe they will even cut some more frontline staff again. ↡ Advertisement 1

Managed to pull up the previous numbers. even the great Toyota dropped from 20% market share to 12% during low COE season. Imagine a grand total of 942 Honda cars sold in 2011 and only 515 sold in 2012 - luxury conti brands retain their volume and hence increase their market share instead. Very interesting to see of this is repeated again. Pls feel free to verify, I rem getting these nos from LTA. The Hyundai Avante elite now is already selling at more than 100k, almost the same price when I bought the Hyundai Elantra elite in 2016 when Cat A COE is at 50k.

Ake109 6th Gear October 29, 2021 Share October 29, 2021 (edited) They need to bring back the old 3000cc and above Cat lah. Saying Conti 1.6 130+ hp fighting with Mazda 3 or Vios is unfair. Isnt it more unfair that Mazda 6 or Conti 1.5 150hp have to fight Lambo and Bentleys? Change the damn Cat E to 3000cc and above. Weekly live bidding at Lido Palace stage. Let towkays hang happy happy. Edited October 29, 2021 by Ake109 2

Heartbreakid 6th Gear October 30, 2021 Share October 30, 2021 With our environment targeting less carbon, COE are not going to be cheaper with the addition of lesser availability. With the introduction of EVs, which is more of a hype than needs, these EVs price are not going to be "affordable" like the usual bread and better cars. We are moving towards "only the rich" can and will not be affected society. ↡ Advertisement
