If keeping SG citizenship then you will not be able to drive the Malaysian registered car in Singapore.

Retirement in neighboring countries is not a bad suggestion but just think Thailand will be better and safer than Malaysia.

Language wise , abit of learning required. Hospital wise, heard bumergrade hospital is quite well establish

Yeah. Got reference from their pricelist on their Feb and current one .

Feb's time NOT the same, that time Borneo Motor wanted good PROFIT,after they got their Hands with the Hybrid Model,Borneo ''whacked'' the P.I. upside down with Low pricing...When is launched in July, only asking for $148,888 for the High End Model...Based on $180,000 selling price of the Non Hybrid during $46,000 COE,Borneo Motor Profit at least $35,000 on that Car.

Yes. I remember now.

Our LTA scholars added HP to their formula.  Why can't they use OMV then if it is meant for the "mainstream" folks?

Everytime the COE rise to a certain level, there will be calls to tweak it to benefit certain group of people, I am just not sure this is better off for everyone.

Okok... Better stop commenting, otherwise will become public enemy number 1. 😂😂😂

No tweaks coming for at least 2022. So prices will remain high.

Yup Bumrungrad International Hospital in Bangkok is quite good. Not saying I'm going to migrate there but if I were to choose just between Malaysia and Thailand, it's definitely Thailand for me.

Most people interviewed by BT wanted an update of the COE system.  The shared COE suggestion below is interesting.

Road usage versus car ownership

THIS WEEK'S TOPIC: Is the vehicle COE system still fit for purpose? Should it be tweaked or revamped, and if so, how?

Jeffery Tan
Group General Counsel
Chief Sustainability Officer
Jardine Cycle & Carriage

COE prices have risen dramatically as a result of increasing demand outstripping limited supply. Can we innovate and re-imagine COE as an optimised road usage system that is not restricted to a single vehicle but on a shared basis?

Currently, every COE is attached to a specific car. The premise is that a car can be driven at any time - at all times - during the COE period. The reality is that many cars are left parked and not utilised for long periods of time.

What if we piloted a new class of COEs that allowed the certificate to be "shared" amongst a pool of cars: At any point of time, only one car with the "shared COE" can be driven, while the others in the pool need to be left unutilised. Easily enabled by technology and reflective of today's shared economy, this can widen access to the car ownership dream, enhance vehicle usage - possibly tempering COE and car prices - achieving an out-of-the-box win-win outcome?

@awhtc Will goes against their vision of use of pubic transport. Anyway with all the go green effort to keep temperature below 1.5 deg increase why would they want to put more cars on the road.

Technically , this is a possible system.  in the digital world, this is similar to RTB or real time bidding where advertisers bid for slots on various platforms they want to adv , at the respective RTB costs - so maybe it is possible to bid, say quarterly, for the coe u want to use on the road. In the CnC example, the parked vehicles is actually a reality for most working people and the CnC team was smart or intuitive enough to see more potential sales if the physical cars got sold, but not every car may not be driven on hourly or even daily basis, some cars clocking less than 15,000 km per year - this can make sharing a single "active" COE to be used at any single point in time.

all that said, it is much easier to keep the current coe system and just clock in 5 billion revenue as is.  why bother with so much work?  let the traffic analysts and coe system work itself out...

Bad idea. A lot of ppl will try to beat it.

In addition, with car-lite policy, this suggestion will defeat it.

Lastly, any suggestions from car dealers will never benefit consumers.

Actually this guy is making perfect sense.. but his proposed solution is already implemented mah... that pool of "new class of COE" cars are what we commonly known as Taxi lor... they don't fight with the private car COE and they are always on the road.  :XD:
