Bottom line is….. there is no free meal with Ah gong. 😔

its 1 of the main turning off point for me.

if they are pushing and say ev is helping the environment, then we should have incentive for switching EV.

if there is more pollution to generate power to charge our EV. then they should come clean with us.

but on the other hand i haven check out the roadtax for other more brand EV.

the only EV  i tested is this.

The tesla very low running cost. No maintenance as to speak of. Other then tyre change. I think the brake pad also very rarely need change.

But all the money u save went to the roadtax. Its 5k/mth😑

$5K a month for road tax??

I think many have forgotten the CNG issue.

EV is here to stay as manufacturers is getting rid of ICE.

G definitely don’t have to do anything until manufacturers don’t sell ICE.

For 2022, road tax for standard range plus is $3k.

Tax will shift to COE and also road tax if they cannot tax petrol and electricity cannot raise otherwise kena industrial cost.

Maybe in future, EV will have a different road tax scheme of 5-10k per year, depending on battery capacity.

Let me quickly raise WITS suggestion to the relevant ministry..... hehe

Mai sabo ah :XD:

What's the point of fast acceleration in sg...

To get out of an accident or get into it loh! 😁

I prefer car with fast acceleration/high torque at low RPM... the responsiveness will be good at critical time.

Go test drive a Tesla. The torque is insane. Not sure if SG Tesla are down tuned though.

Tesla Model 3 Road Tax is $3k.

BMW M340 Road Tax is $2.4K.

The difference is $600 is upfront “Petrol Tax”.

Yup, that is somewhat a 'petrol tax'.

But don't forget, there is also an additional $700 additional tax per yr loaded onto electric cars starting 2023 ($400 for 2022). To recover petrol taxes foregone.

So car usage will never be 'cheap' in Singapore. That is going to be the wrong motivation to switch for regular or low mileage drivers. I think only high mileage drivers may make economical sense.
