‘A big game changer’: Desaru resorts hope possible sea VTL with Singapore will boost tourism

Quote

Once an ailing tourist destination which had seemingly lost its lustre, the seaside town in southeastern Johor now boasts premium luxury hotels, golf courses and a water theme park.

They were previously way cheaper. Now too expensive to consider. Also now Northeast monsoon, lots of rain there.

Unlikely able to take ferry during Northeast Monsoon.

Wave too high.

Based on my previous sailing experience, the waves are usually rough during the NE monsoon only after Horsburgh Lighthouse. We always dread sailing during Nov to Feb. Have to standby vomit bag after the lighthouse. From Changi to Pengerang would not be affected much.

But Desaru beach is facing the South China Sea so it will be affected.

Pengerang still within Straits of Johore. Shield from NE monsoon.

I had seen how rough the sea is during monsoon.

Unlikely safe for passenger. Maybe in cruise liner.

Going there by driving is to enjoy a short drive there, move around different location easily in own car. To use a ferry has loss all the flexibility.

went once when I was younger; a few families went together. recall the set up with quite simple but the waves were quite awesome. got caught in a big wave and next thing I knew I was prone position on the beach. [laugh]

I was wondering too, how come Spore registered  car is there on the first place??

Meaning it was there before the boarder was closed?

Since both of them are Singaporean, that’s the only explanation.

I don’t think Foreigner can enter Malaysia now. Not even MM2H.

MY car rental companies should tie up with desaru hotels. Also good as sinkies can drive around without attracting crooks.
