SBS transit bus captain closed the bus door on elderly while she was halfway exiting the bus

think the bus driver thought everyone had disembarked through his rear mirror, not realising some old folk were holding the hand rail ..but yeah, the bus driver seems in a hurry  to close the door...

This will increase $$$ of conducting business, cost must be passed on to consumers, nothing is free, blah blah blah... Same reason why foreign workers no need seat belt sit behind lorry, baby can hand carry sit in taxis, etc. Enough ppl must die before better safety becomes a priority.

Bus belongs to LTA.

SBS Transit bus driver disciplined after doors close on woman, causing her to fall

Disciplinary action has been taken against an SBS Transit bus driver after the doors of a bus were seen closing on a woman as she was alighting, causing her to fall. "The actions of our bus captain are most unacceptable," Ms Tammy Tan, SBS Transit's senior vice-president of corporate communications said on Thursday (Nov 11).

"We have taken strict disciplinary action against the bus captain and will be monitoring his performance closely."

The incident took place at Hougang Interchange. According to the timestamp of a video circulating on social media, it happened at about 2.40pm on Tuesday. The video shows a woman starting to alight from the bus while holding a handrail. Just as she has her foot on the ground, the bus doors close, causing her to fall. Her left leg is seen trapped between the doors as she falls backwards.

Ms Tan said it was "fortunate" that the woman was not seriously injured, adding that she received outpatient treatment at a hospital.

"We are in touch with her family to extend our care and concern and have offered our assistance too. We do wish her a speedy and complete recovery," she said.

Nowadays SBS and SMRT buses got many CCTVs mounted internally and externally. I'm sure there is a camera mounted at the exit door. But is there a monitor to stream the view so that bus driver can see what's the going on before closing the exit door?

Not trying to go against you bro, but I emphatise bus drivers. Whoever designed those bus stops doesn't drive a bus.. some of them are way too close to the junctions.. tough job for them..

Its not the bus stops

its because drivers won't give way to them.

In Germany if a driver don't stop for a bus to pull out

its a big fine.

We should make it law if a bus signals to change lane

a driver has to give way.

This is because a bus has a fixed route and cannot change.

Might be the distance too short for bus to filter into the turning lane from that bus-stop. Too many vehicles already formed up there. Nevertheless, the bus had signalled intention to turn right. Exceptional circumstances. And no harm done.

Some drivers have superiority complex. They think lowly of public transportation vehicles. Their mentality is why must I give way!? You buses should let me pass first. Big ego altitude ://
