How Omicron highlights fading hope of herd immunity.

The Omicron variant, which is spreading far faster than previous versions of the coronavirus, is not likely to help countries achieve so-called herd immunity against Covid-19, in which enough people become immune to the virus that it can no longer spread, leading disease experts say.

It is like flu virus. How can there be hope of "herd immunity" of the kind that the virus is unable to infect anyone and thus dies off?

Every year, sometimes multiple times a year, you can still catch the flu, and even if you take the flu vaccination.

Covid is becoming something like that, where people with mild symptoms (mild flu) are now asked to recover at home and self-test till clear, and only then they can go back to their normal activities. Actually this is also good practice for flu - but in the past we've seen people sick with flu, sneezing, running nose, and still show up in the office! If anything, covid will teach us good habits - stay home if you are ill and stop spreading it in the office.

I was wandering....2 years on, we are supposed to "live with COVID19", limited social gatherings, jobs can be lost because no jab,  vaccinate-or-be-discriminated, VTL like no tomorrow...What's the point of continuing with  TT ???   🤔

Yeah, like flu virus, it will definitely not disappear. But becoming less lethal, milder and "normal". So are we still going to give it "special treatment" like what you mention, perpetually?

When no more covid, people would still go back to their own habits and practice la, sick with flu still go to office to work. Dont think there will be any changes on this.

They really think the stooges at MMTF give a damn?

Anyone can give up. Easiest thing in the world to do. But to hold it together when they would expect you to fall apart, now that is true strength.

People will stop wearing mask

Not using sanitisers

Pee side by side at urinals

Sneeze and cough without covering mouth.

Queue closely to person in front.

Talk and laugh loudly on MRT/Bus......😅

Either people old habits difficult to change, or people already covid fatigue and become bo chap liao or people think after taking 3 doses of vaccine, they become superman/superwoman and no need scare of covid? Lol.

A lot of guys in HK are desperate to be like SG but we still have an awful lot prefer to be like HK.........

I think the percentage that like the SG model is higher than HK model so, suck it up and keep moving. SG is the middle ground between HK and Europe/US models.
