We did it coz we are a small nation and we want the rule of law to prevail, big or small.

It is in our own self interest. We won't do things that harm ourselves even if ordered by the US. I don't think so. We have went against US before.  Go read LKY'S memoirs.

We are close to US but we are not Belarus to Russia.
