Next big thing would be Kherson. Ukraine has bombed all the bridges and cut off Russian troops from supplies. Ukraine army is smart. Even the US officials rate them highly.

Looks like the use of higher tech weapons like aircraft, anti-tank guided missiles has wound down to artillery, rockets and drones. 

And looks like the Ukrainians have gotten really good at dropping mortars from small drones - imagine coming out of the kitchen with grub for the guys and BOOM:

For Two Weeks russia Hasn’t Applied Tu-160 And Tu-22M3 Strategic Bombers. 

According to open sources, russia’s armed forces have not used their Tu-22M3, Tu-95MS or Tu-160 strategic bombers for direct strikes on the territory of Ukraine for two weeks in a row. The last launches of Kh-22 missiles (carried by Tu-22M3) were recorded on July 28, launches of Kh-101 missiles (from Tu-95MS or Tu-160) were recorded on August 2, 2022.

Such an "operational pause" could have been the reason of cruise missiles shortage for new strikes on Ukraine. But the Main Directorate of Intelligence of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine (HUR MOU) gave a much more interesting explanation.

According to Ukraine’s intelligence officers, russian pilots of the strategic aviation are starting to realize that they will bear the brunt of all the strikes that they had conducted on the territory of Ukraine, which resulted in thousands of casualties among the civilian population.

At the same time, the pilots of strategic bombers, as it directly follows from the message of HUR MOU, were divided into two factions. The first is looking for documentary evidence that they were directly ordered by the command to bomb the civilian population. Obviously, for The Hague to smear themselves in the style of the Nazis, "we were only following orders."

The second faction is much smarter, they simply bring bribes to erase any mention of their names in the documents. The logic of this faction is the following: "If he does not pass according to the documents, then he is not be responsible for the bombing of Ukraine."

However, some pilots of russian bombers were only harmed by the extra bustle, as HUR MOU made publicly available the names of some of the russian aviators who were involved in strikes on Ukraine. For example, the 22nd heavy bomber aviation division based at the Engels airfield is commanded by Colonel Nikolai Varpahovych.

Also, there is the following data on the 121st heavy bomber aviation regiment: the commander of the Guards Air Regiment is Colonel Oleg Skitskyi, the assistant navigator of the Tu-160 aviation squadron is Captain Serhiy Sokolov, the assistant commander of the ship of the aviation detachment of the Tu-160 aviation squadron is Senior Lieutenant Stanislav Budko.

The political commissar of the 52nd heavy bomber aviation regiment based at the Shaykovka airfield and armed with the Tu-22M3 is lieutenant colonel Ivan Subbotin.

 

Vladimir Putin's 'panic-stricken' officials in secret bid to end bloody war in Ukraine

A highly placed Kremlin official has secretly approached the West to help end the Ukraine invasion, it was claimed last night.

The secret member of Vladimir Putin ’s elite is said to have revealed the Kremlin is in panic and desperate for the bloody war to end.

Astonishing claims about the move were made in a report circulated to Western intelligence agencies.

It is believed senior officers and officials close to Putin are alarmed by biting Western sanctions and the failing economy caused by war.

Some Kremlin figures are also concerned about the increasingly alarming risks being taken such as fighting at the Zaporizhzhia nuclear power plant in Ukraine.

The approach is likely to have been made to CIA contacts or Western diplomats, behind Putin’s back.

The Daily Mirror understands the leaked “situation report” is being taken seriously by intelligence agencies.

The document says: “A representative of Putin’s inner-circle sent a signal to the West about the desire to negotiate. The mood of the Kremlin elite is panic.”

The amazing claims goes on to label the unnamed Kremlin insider as “one of the pillars of the regime”.

The insider would be in extreme danger, along with their family, if they were named and Putin has already had several purges, firing military commanders and senior spies.

Some have even disappeared or fallen mysteriously ill.

Last night, a senior Ukrainian diplomatic source told the Daily Mirror:
“If someone close to Putin has made overtures already it would not come as a surprise.

“It is often the case as happened in the closing stages of the Second World War that officials on a side concerned about their future make approaches to ensure it.

“Many of the Kremlin ‘elite’ are familiar with life in the West, have had children at Western universities and lived elsewhere.

“They know there is a good life to be had away from Putin’s grasp but so far they have not done anything about it as they are too terrified of what will happen to them.”

Only the best and most dramatic strikes get uploaded and we shouldn’t assume this is the norm. That being said, if you look up Ukraine drone mortars you’ll find quite a lot of information, including some mention that the blast radius is at least 50 metres, even if the explosion doesn’t look movie-impressive.

Those puny motar bombs won't have 50m effective radius lah. More likely 5 to 10m only.  You need something at least 155mm ammo to get 50m.

By now, they have lots of practice dropping mortars and bombs on live targets. 😁

Ukraine is also conducting classes for drone operators. They can train thousands of these people, armed them with drones and wreck havoc on the enemy without much personnel damage.
