It is a lesson for the Taiwanese, don't count on the Americans to fight on your behalf. American has been vague with its commitment. But, it has been selling weapons to Taiwan to protect itself. 1

Unfortunately, these countries don't produce leaders that don't milk the country. Iraq is plagued by infighting btw Sunni and Shia. In Afghan, only Taliban can run this tribal country. Unfortunately, women have to be sacrificed along the way.

Can Russia be trusted going forward in any peace deal? Politically, it is a lose-lose battle for both Putin and Zalenskyy to agree to any peace deal now. Kb27 Supersonic January 25, 2023 Share January 25, 2023 Gepards will now get its needed ammo, previously blocked by Switzerland due to its neutrality law. More russian drones are going to fall out of the sky. 😀 https://www.ukrinform.net/rubric-ato/3658721-switzerland-plans-to-allow-reexport-of-its-weapons-to-ukraine.html Switzerland plans to allow re-export of its weapons to Ukraine The Swiss National Council's Security Policy Committee has supported a parliamentary initiative to allow the re-export of war materiel in certain cases, in particular in the case of the Russian-Ukrainian war. The Swiss parliament's press service reported this on Tuesday, according to Ukrinform. "The National Council's Security Policy Committee adopted, by 14 votes to 11, a motion and a parliamentary committee initiative relating to the re-export of war materiel," the report said. According to the parliamentarians, "declarations of non-re-export" must be able to be revoked in the event of a violation of the international prohibition against the use of force, and specifically in the case of the Russian-Ukrainian war. The parliamentary initiative also wants to amend Article 18 of the Federal Act on War Materiel to invalidate declarations of non-re-export if it is established that the re-export of war material to Ukraine is linked to the Russian-Ukrainian war. This amendment should be declared urgent and remain in force until December 31, 2025. The Security Policy Committee believes that Switzerland should provide more support to Ukraine, and the proposed changes do not violate the law on neutrality, since it is not about the direct export of equipment. The minority of the committee fears that the re-export of Swiss weapons to Ukraine could pose a problem from the point of view of neutrality, in particular with regard to the principle of equal treatment.
Kb27 Supersonic January 25, 2023 Share January 25, 2023 100 western tanks or more for Ukraine ? Leopard 2 - many Abrams - 50 ? Challenger 2 - 14 Leclerc - maybe russia will beat them all https://news.yahoo.com/u-germany-poised-send-tanks-005457592.html BERLIN/KYIV (Reuters) -Germany announced plans on Wednesday to deliver heavy tanks to Ukraine, and the United States was poised to do so too, a breakthrough hailed as a decisive military boost by Kyiv and condemned by Moscow as a reckless provocation. Kyiv has been calling for months for Western main battle tanks that would give its forces greater firepower, protection and mobility to break through Russian defensive lines and potentially swoop through territory occupied by the invaders. "A few hundred tanks for our tank crews .... This is what is going to become a real punching fist of democracy," Andriy Yermak, the head of Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy's administration, wrote on Telegram. Germany will send an initial company of 14 Leopard 2 tanks from its own stocks and approve shipments by allies who field them, with the aim of supplying Ukraine with two battalions, typically comprising three-four companies each. Berlin would also provide training, ammunition and maintenance. "This decision follows our well-known line of supporting Ukraine to the best of our ability. We are acting in a closely coordinated manner internationally," Cancellor Olaf Scholz said in a statement. Two sources in the United States said Washington would also provide dozens of its Abrams M1 tanks. Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said any U.S. tanks sent to Ukraine would "burn like all the rest". Twenty armies worldwide field Leopards, which Germany has made in their thousands. Poland and Finland have already pledged them once Berlin agrees, and several other countries are expected to follow swiftly. Britain has already offered a company of its comparable Challengers and France is considering sending its Leclercs. Mark Hertling, a former commander of U.S. ground forces in Europe, estimated Leopards could reach Ukraine's battlefields as soon as March. The turbine-powered U.S. tanks, which need more logistical support, could be more than eight months away.
