But need to drink jet fuel is a logistical nightmare in a protracted war.. cannot even use any captured supplies...

iirc... the M1 is multi fuel, can run on diesel too.

"What type of fuel does an M1 tank use?

The most recent M1 model holds 490 gallons (1,850 L), allowing the tank to go about 265 miles (426 km) without refueling. The turbine engine works with a range of fuels, including ordinary gasoline, diesel fuel and jet fuel."

Perhaps they program the engine to run on jet fuel....

But the US Defense Dept initially adopted such turbine engine for the tank was for the benefit that it can run on a few types of fuel though, that flexibility.

I bet these folks would be clamoring to be sent abroad for Leopard training... send me..me..me... [laugh]

Long time ago when I was in the Navy, I was very excited to go Europe for training on new equipment. 😀

"T-72s are old tanks - this one's the same age as me," said Bogdan, a 55-year-old Ukrainian volunteer, turning to pat the huge, squat, Soviet-era machine behind him. "I used to drive one of these nearly 40 years ago - I can't believe I'm doing it again. But it works. It does the job."

"But a Leopard would be better," said Volodymr, another member of their three-man crew, with a low chuckle.

Does jet fuel burn cleaner than diesel? Its combustion properties similar to like petrol?

My layman logic reckon that the engine top performance is with jet fuel.. use petrol or diesel likely results in lower performance and possibly higher maintenance.. otherwise why use jet fuel when petrol or diesel will do the job?

3 decades ago, Iraq invaded Kuwait. Today russia invaded Ukraine.

This is about US M1 Abrams, M3 Bradley vs Iraqi T-72s. Now we are about to see Ukraine M1 Abrams, M3 Bradley vs russia T-72s.

T-72s are no match for M1 Abrams.

The war will be about logistics. Whichever side that can do well in terms of logistics will win. However great the type of tanks used w/o fuel and ammo they are pretty much useless on the battlefield.
