I've never had cpox before. And i took the cpox vaccine when i entered med school.

With cpox vaccine becoming more prevalent, we aren't sure what will happen to shingles. Some reports say that shingles can happen earlier in adulthood. But don't think anyone really knows.

Shingles is an infectious disease that is typically characterised by a band of blistering, painful, rashes that appears in one area on the body and lasts for 2 - 4 weeks.

Shingles is also known as herpes zoster and locally, as snake disease (生蛇) or kayap ular.

Shingles most commonly occurs in individuals 50 years and older and almost all older adults are at risk of shingles. It is caused by the same virus that causes chickenpox. For most individuals who recover from chickenpox, the virus lies inactive within certain nerve cells without causing any problems. For some individuals, the virus reactivates causing shingles.

When my wife got it some years back. TCM cured her. 

It is surprising that the MOH does not subsidize Shingles Vacc. when it is one of the two recommended Vaccs for seniors. The other is pneumonia. Lately, flu jab is also recommended. I have done both doses for pneumonia but not shingles.

Mine around the left waist. Started to experience pain on the left side of the body since last Sunday night, and pain seems to get worst as days pass by. Thought of Shingles, but did see / feel any rashes or blisters on the body so continue to monitor.

Then the pain gets unbearable on Thursday, and I was prepared to go to A&E to have a check. While taking my shower, feel a small patch of rashes around my left back, so sort of confirm it is shingles. Visited the company doctor on Friday morning, doctor said it just a small area, which can be easily controlled with medication (was given 35 Virless 800mg tablets) and pain killer.

Conditions did not improve but get worst instead, spreading to the front of my left waist yesterday, and more blisters in between today. May have to go back to the clinic tomorrow to see what else can be done.

Thanks all for your concerns and wishes. I will rest well and be fine.

I am same as you. Never contracted cpox and had 1 shot of the cpox vaccine in my early 30s.

my line of thinking is since my body has no dormant cpox virus, so likely i will not get shingles?

I also People's Park recently...super spicy albeit not as oily as previous time...suffered instead of enjoyment...perspired while eating macam I just had a shower liddat...😅

Good vfm at $18 for that size though. Another 5 dollah for that very nice French beans

cpox vaccine is just to suppress it from popping out right? if the virus relapse become shingles? now even have shingles vaccine to further suppress it?

i'm in a similiar situation.

i never had chickenpox but my brother had it when i was about to take PSLE so my parents brought me to a doctor where i was given a shot... not sure what it was but i stayed clear of CP. 

i've no idea if i'm still vulnerable to CP and/or if i need to beware of shingles.

You can test yourself if you have varicella antibodies. But u can't easily test whether you had cpox or it was due to the vaccine.
