Like that sounds like SUV not really that safe?

It is the driver that makes it unsafe.

I used old THE STRAITS TIMES.:XD:

Wet a few sheets, open up and leave them in the car, covering the seats etc.

When I next go to the car, just fold them up and throw.

Coming someone who owned a string of sedans, an SUV for 4+yrs and now to a hatch: Different kind of car type will have different quirks and how to drive them safely.

For SUV, other than the higher CG, longer suspension travel, another important factor will be the generally thicker tyre side profile. Going hard into a bend, other than the outer suspension coil being compressed more, the outer wheel's tyre will deform more leading to increased body roll along the centrifugal force lines.

Of course more performance biased models of SUV (AMG/M/SQ) will have slight lowered stiffer sports suspension, larger rims with narrower tyre side profiles, limited slip differential and 4wd. All the above will help stabilize the SUV in corner and allow higher limits to cornering speed.

More importantly is to learn and understand your car's limit and your own limit. Don't be an idiot and drive your SUV beyond it's limit and your skill's limit and then blame the SUV design.

All said, if I want to attack corners at crazy speed, I would have been better off buying a low slung mid engined rwd coupe.

:D

Saw a report on ST that there was a 40% drop in accidents with controlled right turn.. wonder what took LTA so long and fatal accidents to occur before moving their arse on this.

It is about  relative comparison,  when all else equal, SUV will have a higer chance of getting overturned than sedan.

So it, this ia the best solution LTA can come up with to solve the "ponding" situation when we pay billions in COE/ERP/Road tax?
