Tower Transit Bus Driver Arrested Over Fatal Ang Mo Kio Accident On 20 Jun

According to a follow-up report by Lianhe Zaobao, a 53-year-old Tower Transit bus driver was arrested for reckless driving causing death in relation to the accident on Monday (20 Jun) night.

Initially, it was reported that only a Trans-Cab driver was arrested.

In contrast to earlier reports, The Straits Times (ST) reported on Wednesday (22 Jun) that “several vehicles” were involved in the accident.

As for how the accident played out, things were slightly more ambiguous.

On the one hand, ST reported that the police had yet to confirm which vehicle had hit the woman first. But on the other hand, Lianhe Zaobao stated in their report that they understood the woman was first struck by the Tower Transit bus as she crossed the road.

However, the driver reportedly left the scene and did not check on the victim. The 61-year-old was subsequently run over by two other vehicles and passed away at the scene.

Apart from the bus captain, two other drivers are also assisting the police with their investigations, including the Trans-Cab driver.

Notably, only the taxi driver was present when police officers were on the scene.

How the hell can cam driver install such dashcam with footage without timestamps, and of such low quality (assuming it wasn't SGRV who downgraded the video quality)?
Such footage should be banned from ever uploading to anywhere - ever.

This one really hit and run...

Probably did not realise the car engine is running when he tried to lock the car... Resulting in the alarm sounding off... Then he panicked...

Probably stepped on the wrong pedal… no excuse for running away.. good thing there’s a cctv

Whenever I see such incident footage - I wonder why it did not come from the victim's vehicle's dashcam?!

Seems many car owners are lazy/stingy af to install a proper dashcam in their old cars, just like that other Wish owner whom I busted a couple weeks back for using 7yo tyres that was already cracked and brittle with age.

Vehicle owners who refuse to have proper dashcams installed, and suffer a hit-and-run, shouldn't really be allowed to get any claims based on the "I told you so" unwritten saying/rule!

If you want to save money on a dashcam and get hit by such dick drivers - please don't start beg/steal/borrowing video footage from surrounding vehicles and/or CCTvs as if they owe you the rights to that video footage which you so damned desperately need for that insurance claim!

Leave in Neutral. Alarm. Corrective action step wrong pedal...the why of power lurch.

Run road corrective action number 2.

Getting cctv footage is Corrective action number 3.

Being made famous by MCF is action number 4.

corrective action 5 is the road sweeper being gently counselled for workplace safety, his employer not so gently.

This shall be the representative poster video for .....

Every solution is a problem that needs another solution. Maciam limjiu.

Well, most of these are either old and COE left 1-2 yrs car waiting to write off in an accident or PHVs who will most likely self pawn if they ever submit their own video anyway.
