How can we save money when petrol prices rise above ceiling ?

Sell car. 😂

Honestly speaking, it just does not make sense to put so much effort to improve on the km/l on your display. Maybe you can save abit if you are on a TC car by not boosting so much or by accelerating very slowly from stationary (that's when the FC is the highest).

Best is to look at your overall lifestyle and see which area can cut. If lifestyle is really very lean and that couple of hundreds more for petrol is too much for the wallet, it's better to sell the car.

Do all the following(guarantee save petrol money):

1) Add 0.2% acetone to tank

2) Add magnet fuel saver in fuel line

3) Add air bleed device

4) Add electronic device that plug to cigarette lighter(don't know the name)

5) Add others snake oils that claim saving fuel

either your car spend more time in WS(less petrol use) or burn off(no car to pump petrol) so GUARANTEE save petrol money de🤣

Don't tell oil company I say one........they will sue me for loss of income🙊

My honest opinion is to drive within the speed limit and no overtaking. 😁

After my previous “serious” reply, I feel compelled to remind the TS that he can always pump the same dollar amount he used to spend, before petrol prices started skyrocketing.

That way, you can cap your expenses.

Accelerate briskly to desired speed.

Fix back all the things under the car that had been lost or damaged from humps. Car underbody cover, chin spoiler, rubber lip, wheel spat, etc

Check engine oil is not more than recommended.

Point 4..only effective if Windows are close...open Windows increase Air Drag.

i think air drag at speed driving in sg is not that significant right?

Adding on a few more

  1. Increase tire pressures to reduce rolling resistance
  2. Avoid travelling during peak hours to reduce stop/go situations
  3. If your car has stop/go engine cut-off, use it. I know most people disable it automatically.
  4. If its cool outside (e.g. at night) don't use the aircon. Instant 10-20% gain in fuel economy
  5. Plan your trips, make one combined trip rather than multiple short trips. Cars use much more fuel during a cold start.
  6. Get rid of excess weight (like jamesc's MIL)

will add on to this already good list, something that 99.99999% of all sg drivers do

dont accelerate like u trying to win a traffic light drag race, press slowly. U want to save time, can, be more alert, start stepping when light turns green and dont fiddle with ur phone

the amount of drivers who tailgate like mad when light just turns green/or when there is a red light like 30 metres ahead is mindblowing. Seriously, how much time do u really save?

Unless u drive EV wanna experience the EV acceleration then ok la

It's no wonder more and more are tardy moving off the traffic light.

Fuel savers please keep away from right lane. I prefer to use my method of spending less time on the road.
