Hamburger Hypersonic January 2 Share January 2 Ox playing to showcase he is running and not on some treatment table. Really poor 1st half. Weak link is on the left and tsimikas is struggling. ↡ Advertisement
Starry 6th Gear January 2 Share January 2 Ran out of luck so far. As usual, passing was slow with very little intent to drive forward when they have the ball. Someone need to tell Pool that they can't win matches by passing left to right and right back to left slowly. Painful to watch. Hope for a more purposeful 2nd half. Starry 6th Gear January 2 Share January 2 4 minutes ago, Mivec79 said: We bought Nunez to solve our issue against deep defending compact team And yet the issue still remain The issue is deeper than just Nunez. What I saw in 1st half is that 10 outfield Pool players played lethargic slow passing football with no one willing to make a run when facing a compact opponent. 2nd half is a bit more dynamic and energetic, but most passes were overhit. Something is very wrong...
Akula Turbocharged January 2 Author Share January 2 A shambolic display and we are comprehensively beaten. Looks like the break/camp during the WC did not address the problems. Next up, at home to Wolves in the FA cup. YNWA.
Shorty Turbocharged January 2 Share January 2 I jus don't get why they insist on slow passing. So obvious Brentford will sit deep. Shouldn't they do quick counter attack. Exactly like wat Brentford did

Abracadabra 5th Gear January 3 Share January 3 Brentford? Sounds more like a brand of underwear. This season is gone. Top 4 not going to be easy at this rate. 1
Fooblack Supercharged January 3 Share January 3 Poor display and not many players can come away with a performance worthy of the red jersey. Pool's challenge for the top 4 is slipping away with the significant lack of quality in the midfield area. Elliott is not the type of midfielder you want to play in such a chaotic and muscular midfield challenge. what happened to Hendro? he wasn't in the squad today. Fabinho + Thiago needs another hard running midfielder to make the combination work as these 2 players do not provide the engine room. that's why Pool played better after Keita comes in the 2nd half for Elliott. but it is too little too late as Pool has to chase down 2 goals... The scary thing is that the final 3-1 score actually flattered Pool. the way they have defended so naively, the scoreline could have been more brutal.
Jamesc Hypersonic January 3 Share January 3 I think that Cody will change Liverpool's fortune single-handedly. When Salah is in the box he can pass to Nunez or shoot and all the defender know he will shoot. So no need to close the passing lanes and just block Salah's shot. But with Gakpo on the left wing now Nunez has the option of passing to Salah or Gakpo or shooting. So this will create space as Gakpo and Salah will be pulling defenders away from Nunez and give him more time and space to shoot. This is similar to what Mane was doing.
Jamesc Hypersonic January 3 Share January 3 Everyone knows we started the season badly. Its not so much we miss Mane but we miss the offensive threat from the left. No Diaz, no Jota so we have been attacking as 2. Actually its more like a 1 as Salah does not pass in the box!
Fooblack Supercharged January 3 Share January 3 with Gakpo's addition, the attacking issues should go away sooner than later. The recent issues arise as both Nunez and Salah keep missing simple chances. With another prolific forward in the line up, it is more likely than not that one of these forwards will start putting chances away. The main issue still lies in the midfield. Pool has not bought any proper midfielder for more than 3 seasons apart from Thiago. No wonder the midfield feels old and tired. We will need another 2 to come in soon... hopefully at least 1 in this window or else I do not think Pool will make top 4 given the intense competition. Keita may well hold the key to the top 4 challenge. When he is in the team, there is a remarkable increase in the mobility and energy, something which neither Hendro, Fab or Thiago can offer or produce. Klopp has gambled on him 5 seasons ago however we are still waiting for him to be consistently fit...
Hosaybo 6th Gear January 3 Share January 3 Keita is likely to "loose the key" and ended up in the treatment room based on his track records!
Fooblack Supercharged January 4 Share January 4 18 hours ago, Hosaybo said: Keita is likely to "loose the key" and ended up in the treatment room based on his track records! the same applies for Ox. Surely Klopp should not extend either of these contracts so as to free up the wage budget to spend on dependable players. Milner also likely to exit so we have 3 freed up wages. we'll do well to get at least 2 younger CMs. young as in the early to mid-twenties... the likes of Elliott and Carvalho have proven to be too young... ↡ Advertisement
