handphone cameras kill compact cameras, mirrorless kill DSLRs. No more DSLR but still have mirrorless. My D750 will become a collector item soon🤣. DSLR allows quick focus lock on, not sure if mirrorless could do the same. Hope all the F2.8 F mount lens can still be used on mirrorless, otherwise that will be another buy buy $bye   $bye of new len$e$.

I think they follow Sony.

Sony no longer produce DSLR, they provide SLT and Mirrorless full frame camera......

Meaning many lenses cannot be use so if change camera must change body and lenses.

Forcing consumer to change the whole system.

Probably Nikon doing the same.

So those already on full frame maybe not affected too badly.

Can mirrorless take exposure of say 30 minutes  of dark skies with very little noise?

Probably can, but must set the lower ISO for long exposures and use the optimum aperture.

Get a really good model with a good sensor..

There are more important factors, eg a rock solid tripod as there can be wind, make sure there's no light leak and a good remote release..

Can set to bulb on cable release if the camera system have cable release.

But remote release is more convenient.

No need for a cable - use the self timer ... lean burn 🙂

I have the d600 and previously the D90. I usually just use it for the cny family portrait cos I like bounce flash effect. But this year just use my camera phone.

No point in getting mirror less as computational photography has come a long way and not that a big photography buff.

Sad day.

Started with Canon EOS 300D, my 350D still in dry cabinet.

My favorite lens is still the prime 50mm and 70-200mm.

Can set open for 30mins?

The self timer is just to activate the shutter, the B mode is required to keep the shutter open, but how long can it stay open will depend on the model of camera..

Always use fresh batteries so it does not run out halfway. If the weather is cold, don't forget that the battery life is shorter..

The Canon 70 - 200 F2.8 II is really very sharp. My favourite lens. I think Canon also going to stop DSLR. What a relief. No need to spend money to upgrade anymore!

You will need the Astro  version of the cameras with "a" suffix. These are more sensitive to different wavelengths.

Please post your photos like NASA!

I still got a Canon D40. Is this thing still worth anything and I wonder can a smartphone beat it to a pulp?
