SINGAPORE - CapitaLand-owned mall JCube looks set to make way for a mixed-use residential development, based on a proposed amendment to the site's land use.

The proposed amendment to the Urban Redevelopment Authority's (URA) masterplan, published by the agency on July 22, stated that JCube's 7,771.2 sq m plot may be changed from commercial use to a primarily residential development that has commercial spaces on the first storey.

JCube is only 10 years old, right? Now they plan   to tear down again and rebuild

This the one with the skating rink  right? Last time i was there was to watch maverick in imax. Pretty crowded mall.

Tear down and rebuild. Construction and property companies make money.Guess this is glc way of helping keep gdp up.

Jcube was a re-furb, re-brand of what we used to call Jurong 4 (it got 4 screens in its cineplex) and started life in the late 80s or early 90s. Used to pop by after school occasionally.

Those days, Jurong East only had 1 shopping, so it did decently well.

Once Jem, Westgate arrived in the 2010s it was not really viable any more. Not surprised.

"Mix-use" means mall and condo? CapitaLand huat lor. Can earn revenue from condo sales and mall rental. Can earn a lot more than what Jcube is now.

The new bus depot is just next to it and the mrt is just a short walk. Jem and Westgate/office so nearby. Library is just behind it. Is the causeway link yellow bus still operate from the new bus depot? Song, can go JB shopping and dining w/o driving the car. Huat liao, condo sure sell like hotcakes. No wonder song song gao julong.

Is there a ice skating ring in kallang Leisure mall?

They tear down and build a new building also dont know can make it or not? Heard Jcube not many people go there, dont know why also? Since this building just opposite the MRT and JEM area.

The Liang Court redevelopment is also similar with an additional hotel building and service apartment. CDL will be developing the hotel and CapitaLand should be mall and condo. There is also a service apartment by Ascott Reit. This wan is a bigger mix-use development.

https://www.capitaland.com/en/about-capitaland/newsroom/news-releases/international/2019/nov/CDL-CapitaLand-to-redevelop-Liang-Court-site.html

Land catered for the development.

Residential                          60,158 sq m

Commercial                        11,530 sq m

Hotel                                   15,541 sq m

Serviced residence            13,034 sq m

 Total                                    100,263 sq m

Ice skating ring is quite popular in sg, many people use them. So after Jcube ice skating ring no more, only left one ice skating ring in sg liao?

The design of mall is screwed

the lift take forever to go up or down from carpark esp on weekend

moreover now property price hit all high, its good time to rebuild for mixed use. Even though only 10 yrs the ROI havent get back
