Dunno if the CS5 is considered a normal lancer anot, but it’s the definitive way to separate the poseurs from the real McCoy

The great grandfather of MPV is Espace :D

No, Mitsubishi is still the pioneer in 7 seater MPV segment.

Space Wagon was available from Feb 1983 wile Espace was launched in July 1984.

I googled to confirm the dates. Fun facts: The first generation Espace is shorter than the first Space Wagon! Espace at 4,250mm vs Space Wagon at 4,485mm (non-JDM).

I think, it is sort of "Status" rather than practical use in the 90s JDM

saloon car doesn't need rear wiper because of the raked rear windscreen, unlike hatchback, station wagon and van that has vertical rear windscreen

off hand I can think of a few

made upbadging more challenging 😁

Yes, sort of a luxury feature. The addition of rear wiper is not limited to mid and large size sedan, Honda Grace (JDM version of City), Toyota Axio, Mazda 323 and even the compact Daihatsu Applause has version equipped with rear wiper too.

To clear snow!

Good point! Snow cannot "flow away" like rain water when the car is stationary.

Rook rike the new Noah sia!

The 4th generation Landy is a badge engineered Toyota Noah. A unusual move given that the previous generations were all based on Nissan Serena.

I find rear wiper is good esp during heavy rain, feel the car more safer when the water is clear off.

I hate to point out to our esteemed car guru that the Applause was a hatchback, or natchback if you like

Thanks pal for pointing out, you are absolutely right about the Applause being a notchback, which is the same as the current Opel Insignia, Skoda Octavia, Superb and Seat Toledo. You are the real car guru [thumbsup] unlike me who is just a google guy [:p]

I spoke to a young guy driving this at a car park

he said no power and high fuel consumption

I think this is a good choice for young driver except the price is a little steep
