Hi,

No leh ... my 5 yr old thinkware caught grab driver who reversed into me on hit n run case and report to TP with clear clear video from parked recording since bright sunny afternoon which resulted in him being summoned.

I would have just settled if he had left his contact in a piece of paper on my window screen but since he did not, it left me no option but seek official intervention for much more serious hit n run offence as well as insurance claim .. him not wanting to pay for his mistake frankly also pissed me off since I do not feel I should be penalised and him thinking that he should not be.

Cheers.

I actually agree with Linus. I recently installed a Blackvue 590X. Somehow, for a brand new cam, the image quality is actually much worse than offerings from a couple of years ago. Blackvue has actually gone backwards!

Viewing monitor is also important to project the true quality of the recorded clip. My low quality monitor wouldn't do justice to the 4K recording...😅

Street lighting is much dimmer overseas. The sunlight glare is also very strong in temperate countries due to less cloud cover. It makes hdr post processing important in picking up detail in shadows.

Honestly in Singapore, its not very challenging for car cams here. What's a poorly lit environment here in Sg is nothing compared to overseas...

Actually, I find the mai70 which is available online for around $50-$60 works just as well than those costing a few hundred dollars.

Yes 70mai quality is actually quite good.

I am using 2 Yi cam as travel car cams (for self drive).
Also has a Yi 4K action cam as a substitute to go-pro.

Quality is very good for Yi.

Both Yi and 70mai are like a subbrand of Xiaomi.

tbh lousy camera is better than no camera. if its straightforward accident case then at least you can still see the which vehicle is involved.
