Steve, if you have a sweet tooth, you should try "the best" Parisian icecream. The most famous Parisian ice cream parlor, Berthillon has been an institution in Paris for locals and tourists since the 60s and it's around the corner on Île-Saint-Louis

Thank you for the recommendation

Be extra careful in Paris.  There are pickpocket syndicates.

Thanks

Regarding my post about my lunch at Chartier

I wish to advise you that you can pass this restaurant as the food is not that great though its inexpensive so no need to waste your time with this as you may have to queue for a long time like this (I passed by last night)

I just wonder if it's the taste or not... I stayed in the Latin Quarter and there were lots of affordable restaurants and had similar food to what you had... the escargots were forgettable and the frog was tasteless and the beef was really poor... but I had much nicer meals outside Paris I must say... I just thought that the food is not to my palate... not atas enough to enjoy French cuisine... heh...

In Paris, it is cheaper to eat lunch in restaurant during weekdays.

Got half set.

Either appetiser + main or main + dessert.

Usually ppl skip lunch

One of the day I decided to go outside Paris for shopping I had to take their metro and then change to a train, a double decker train

Your breakfast looks a bit pathetic... I don't suppose that's how it was originally served? You already ate from it before you shot the video is it? Can't imagine the flat looking omelete with a half slice of bread was served like that?

I stayed in Cagnes-sur-Mer for a 3 month training course. France is such a lovely place.

Visit the French Riviera, Nice, Chamonix, the old towns, if you have time.

Neutral Newbie

hi,

I am traveling (free & easy) to both Paris and Amsterdam from 14 Dec to 27 Dec 22 for Winter Christmas. Will be at Paris from 14 to 20 Dec and at Amsterdam from 21 to 26 Dec. Flying off from Paris to Singapore on the 27 Dec.

Any recommendations of places to visit, eat/drink, buy, play and enjoy at these places (or nearby) and wallet friendly? Will be going with my spouse, 2 daughters (both are teens) and my mum.

It will be our first Europe trip together. I have already looked thru several travel websites and travel agencies brochures for possible ideas.

Cheers

Since it's your first time together, then must do all the tourist sites lor... Effiel Tower, etc... you know lar... the last time I was there, I stayed in a little hotel (Hotel de Suez) in the Latin Quarter... it's a place where the university students hang out so it's more happening, and lots of stuff happening in the streets in terms of performances and busking... but that was in the summer... not sure winter same or not but I guess will have Christmas feel lar... I didn't like Paris... busy, crowded, dirty and quite unfriendly... somehow, London being the same but felt friendlier and more welcoming... loved the vibe there instead of Paris... didn't find it romantic at all...

For Amsterdam, take a short day tour to Zaanse Schans to see windmills lor... very nice... not expensive... go try the waffles also...
