For me the hardest thing to accept after I retired was that I had no more corporate title and rank. When I meet someone knew, they will give me their business card. At first I felt awkward telling them that I have to card to give them in return. Now I quite proudly say that I am retired and no longer need to work. My contemporaries are retiring this year and are not prepared for the void that is coming their way. Especially those with no hobby or passion outside of work. I have a friend who really was not prepared. Retired but after 1.5 years, with no purpose in life, went back to corporate life to continue working.
