I remember iPhones can create an Activity whereby say if you are driving it is always unlocked, just have to touch the screen.

The Focus>Driving mode I off it. It requires a lot of setting. When my iphone is connected to carplay the notification will come onto the headunit screen, i tap the whatsapp notification on screen and it will read to me. If it is not connected when the notification comes on the phone I look down(my phone holder is cupholder type) the phone unlocks with face recognition and the whatsapp msg will auto appear w/o opening the app. I dont have to tap the screen unless i wish to read it later like at the redlight.

these days, under the screen fingerprint sensors are almost instantaneous. My phone can be in the car phone cradle charging wirelessly while I can use my index or thumb to just touch the sensor area for less than a second and it will unlock.

resistance to using a unified USB-C charging cable and adoption of screen fingerprint sensors is simply Apple's way to differentiate themselves from the android competitors be it for the good or for the worse for the consumer.

Fingerprint the phone maker will have to find an ideal spot to place the sensor. Face recognition is easy cos the screen is always facing you. It takes up less space compared to a round fingerprint sensor. In a design point of view it makes sense but I know ppl still like to put their finger on something.

Like I said earlier there are pros and cons to plug in charging. I dont use the original lightning cable for charging cos I find that it is in the way when I am using the phone and charging at the same time. I believe android phones have the same issue when plugged in.

I use a magsafe charging cable. I can move the cable away when I use the phone in landscape mode so that it is not in my hand's way. Apple doesnt want the plug-in cable anymore and do this instead but is met with resistance. For me I like their idea cos the cable could be moved out of the way and still be charging.

I know the mindset of plug-in charging is hard to move on for some.

Thanks for sharing.   Why not just get Siri to read out the whatsapp message when they arrive, it's better than having to read the text while driving.  My AA reads out the text quite accurately, albeit word by word like a robot.  I can even reply message verbally also.  One of the reason why i havent switched back to IOS is because I find Google Assistant to be much more refined over Siri.

Are you using Magsafe without any phone casing ala naked ?  Why I ask is becos one issue with using magsafe is that not all cases are magsafe compatible.

I see quite a few iphone users having to bring the phone up to the face to unlock and then bring the phone back down to the usual operating position.

To me that is not as ergonomic as just picking up the phone from the table/pocket  and in the process thumb already on the fingerprint sensor to activate the unlock. By the time the phone is in the natural waist/chest level with my head tilted down 45 degree or so, the phone is ready to use.

I like the magsafe charging idea but again it creates another accessory that only iphone users can use.

For USB-C there are already cheap adaptors that can wrap the charging cable around to the back of the phone in case you want to use your phone for landscape gaming purpose.0bf4410f0007b6e90acca3e5e15c2e0f.thumb.jpg.f7c82329162921e8d2f2efc43cd5e397.jpg

beauty of it is it can be used on any USB-C connector phones/tablets.

Wireless charging (along with NFC) was introduced and popularised by Android phone makers for quite a few generations before iphone ditched the metal backing for glass backing so that both the functions can work. But as always, Apple always have a way to make something like that appear as if they are the pioneer.

How much does this cost? Can it be used on all android phones? Or is it unique to Huawei?

The accessories I use are not original ones. They dont have to be original to work. The connectors in your pic still need to be plug-in. Apple is magnetic. Which is easier?

it is universal. They even have lightning connector version for iphones.

the problem I have with magsafe wireless charging is the charging speed is max at 15w.

Wired superfast charging for android can go up to 120W (vivo) and average of 45w (samsung S22)

this one can stick onto the back of the phone/case?

my problem with anything sticking behind the phone usually block the NFC scanning.

Never use magsafe charger before.

Have been using a wireless charging phone stand for some time.

No issue.

Put it at home with my charging cable so that i can play game or watch movies/youtubes in landscape mode while charging. Will not block my hand. :D

Is that the reason Apple gave up on its covert car mfg ops but went backburner or completely shelved and let Tesla take off 🤣
