Ioniq 5 will release early next year after SG factory complete construction at end of the year… but pricing shud be nearer to EV6 price unless assembled in sg is alot cheaper…

if u not in a rush then just wait, anyway who knows waiting might benefit the coe prices to drop if it even does but one can hope right. anyway next year u wan the Niro hybrid still also can get since its still quite new to the market

Need to maintain both drivetrain.

Electric drivetrain is simpler to maintain.
It faces the same battery degradation like EV.

Lastly, I think road tax is higher of ICE or EV.

Yawn. You go ask grab and taxi Lao driving Prius got problem or not.

drive EV and can forget about road trip up North.

Hybrid is neither here nor there.

I would just get a ICE for now.

didn't the sgcarmart team do a road trip up north and concluded that the NS highway has a couple of high speed chargers

I don't see an issue with hybrids given the benefits in fuel consumption, prob outweighs the risk and costs of a battery

Issue here is the availability of the charger installed that's still remain dodgey.

Anyway, by the time the charge is full, I would have reached the destination.

true also ah, the timing is a bit of a put off. its only convenient if say at yr destination then you gonna stay there for 2-3 hours kind then let it charge in the meantime then when you need leave can start and go

Unlike SP Power, Msia charging station is DC100kw.

Likely to be 1hr.

Adoption of EV in Msia might be faster than us.

Infra might improve over the next few years.

they got the infra but take-up rate for EVs don't seem high. actually with them having more people being able to have a home charger, it would make sense if they have EVs.

The DC100kW ones, do they have a lot on the NS highway rest stops?

Yes, i think so too. Key thing is that they already have the "infrastructure" in place - landed properties!

I think ICE wins for now due to the cheaper overall cost for most Singaporean drivers.

Most normal B&B car drivers only clock 1K KM per month nia. Petrol bill cheap cheap, less than $180-$200/mth. If drive EV, electricity charge will cost them around $40-$50 per month.

So savings is minimal like $150/mth, in exchange for higher purchase price vs an equivalent ICE model, longer time to fill up (does not apply to landed property owners), inconvenience up north and sometimes find charging lot, but got occupied by others... then need to go another place to find (happened to me a few times).

Only BYD makes sense for now as their purchase price and road tax are really low.
