I also love travelling and holidaying but has to put aside by passion since I am living in Singapore. No money means no roof, no utilities, no nothing. Be practical and then pursue interests later in life lor.

I always tell my son, do something you love. If it's my son, and he can show me it's his passion, and he loves doing it, he gets my blessing. ^_^

Well, he gets paid doing what he loves. Does your passion for travelling and holidaying pay you? [laugh][laugh][laugh]

I don’t think many bus company owners are former bus drivers. I could be wrong though. Different skill sets

How many pilots actually own airline?

Maybe can own a plane in Aus or Alaska and operate as bush pilot.

Nothing against bus driver but what would u think if that is your son.

Nothing wrong.  If he enjoys driving a bus, he would naturally be good at it and may one day be promoted to the one in-charge of a whole fleet of busses or maybe the whole bus interchange. Or who knows, maybe own a bus company even.

There is prospect and future to everything if one excel in his job. If driven by passion, even better.

Somehow I also cannot accept my daughter cannot study well. But she is so interested in events management it she did it so well. Lucky me. I was also trying to encourage her to do what she like. I also tell her don't do manufacturing like me😂

Just hopefully the father can accept it lor.

Actually events management not easy. Handling client emotions and expectations is one thing, but anticipation skills need to be tip-top to mitigate any last minute coordination issue from various parties.

If she is good at it, you should be proud of her.

Well my son chose a course in poly that is not my preference (strongly). It's more apprenticeship than academics. Well I kept my mouth shut and supported him. Gifted him all the tools of the trade.

hmmm bit different leh. While culinary world has infinite competition, at least the apprenticeship leads to further opportunities and responsibilities.

As a bus driver, the upwards progression is very limited. It's not like you can keep scaling the skill up to achieve more complex aims. At least in culinary arts, u can definitely skill up into all kinds of levels, even management, menu design and food concepts etc.
Of course u can quit it all and be a hawker or a tiny restaurant owner chef in the future. But at least the avenue is there. And you shouldn't waste the years when your brain is most plastic.

It's like u can like trains, but I would rather be a train engineer than a train driver. Cos at least then your specialisation means something.

I don't even want to mention Autonomous driving which is surely on the horizon in at least a limited form or other within the next 10-15 years.

Ok la, at least he has a poly diploma, no need must study uni since he found something that he loves to do.

Is being a private bus driver, salary higher than driving a public bus?
