A woman in USA was recently sentenced for manslaughter after killing and stabbing a man who raped her multiple times.

But its not during the act. She just went to find him and stab him.

The US case victim was trafficked for sex works.

As for the Malaysia case above it felt more like the hongkonger (陈同佳) case where boy killed his gf while holidaying in Taiwan. both happened in the hotel room.

Most likely manslaughter, if there is proven provocation.

but she's charged with murder. Prosecution sure they can get a conviction for murder?

I dunno whether Malaysia is same as Singapore, but over here judge have the power to 'downgrade' the charge in his judgement if there is evidence to prove so.

Premeditated?

On the face value of what has reported in the news look more like manslaughter I reckon.

Malaysia Penal Code has the right of self-defence which is more robust than ours.

Under Singapore/Malaysia law, there is no manslaughter.

1. Murder (with intention to kill);

2. Culpable Homicide that is NOT murder(without intention to kill);

3. Death by rash or negligent act
