Gregorian/ Solar calendar is accepted as the start of the year. 

It's only in English language that people start nitpicking😅

I remember in Mandarin, we seldom say "华人新年” usually say,"农历新年”

It's only when in English, probably it's more common to use CNY in the past that this terms has been imprinted in our mind.

Actually, it is a lunisolar calendar.

If you look at the Chinese wording, it is a planting season calendar.

We have been using CNY in English due to AMDK (i think so).

But Jap/Kor/Viet also use the same calendar.

Due to wolf warrior diplomacy, we are seeing more of this shit.

I will say Happy LNY when having calls with colleagues from PH, KR or VN. Or PH/VN colleagues in our local office. Bcos common sense tells me they are not Chinese 😂.

But will say Happy Chinese New Year with local Chinese.😂

Or Simply say

Happy New Year of Rabbit.....

Easiest and all the same for KR and CN. 

But then VN only has cat 🤦😅 no Rabbit.

Actually CN call it 春节。

Every Lunar New Year without fail, my mother would send an elaborate home-visiting schedule to the family group chat and remind me not to make other plans. This year, I have to visit nine households – slightly fewer than previous years – owing to my large extended family.
