McDonald's CEO Chris Kempczinski recently sent a letter to employees around the world saying the company will roll out cost-cutting programs, launch a massive restructuring, eliminate some jobs and lay off staff.

majority are franchise, will the franchisees follow his instructions?

Why would he bother with the franchisees when royality is at top line level (typically)?

So retrench tech staff?

Uncles and aunties safe? :D

Nowadays, McD uses self service machine.

Retrench tech staff then who maintain these machines

They also understand some hawkers can

1) scold patrons for ordering too slowly

2) told them to queue up and wait

But still very long queue.

Probably trying something similar😅😅

SG one should be safe.

All under staff and already rolled out self ordering system......

Probably bcos of the success on the model in SG, the CEO rolling out to all other markets😂

The CEO's job of a listed mnc is to ensure profit of the company will continue to grow, otherwise he will lose his job ,  in order to protect his job and get fat share options, the most natural thing to do for a CEO is to cut jobs to save cost. Whether the new business model is sustainable is not his copncern because he would have parachuted off with million dollars of pay out by then,  how long would a ceo stay on a same job?

Current CEO joined McD in 2015. He has been CEO since 2019.

They are trying to remove redundancies. Improve on working efficiency.

The fast-food giant said the job cuts aren’t a cost-cutting measure but are instead intended to help the company innovate faster and work more efficiently. As part of the reorganization, the company will be deprioritizing and halting certain initiatives, according to a company-wide memo from Kempczinski. It’s unclear what those projects are.

Maybe we are the testing ground for what they wanna do, ordering thru kiosk and app. I do find it easier to order from the  app. The staff could focus on other tasks rather than wait at the cashier. Automating services that dont require manpower all of the time.

This is my 1st thought! Mackers Singapore is own and run by Ham Bao Bao Pte Ltd, if they are making shitload of money which I believe, why cut staffs to have customers services issue later on?
