Had this at British Hainan over a month ago. The ambiance of the restaurant was interesting.

It looks more like an antique shop. Loads of old furnitures, retro appliances, juke box, etc. Doesn’t look like a restaurant at all.

Dabao satay for dinner from AMK 409 HC.

20230319_202232.jpg

that HC after lunch is like mostly closed. only the hokkien mee, and that few stalls near the satay stall is open.

That's one thing about AMK. 80-90% of the HC stalls are closed after 2pm.

Then morning time, those regulars can queue all the better stalls until sibei long queue. cao cao 25-30mins queue minimum.
That's why very sian to find food in AMK area after lunch time. It comes down to the coffeeshops and zhi char.

At least in yishun, Chong pang still has maybe 20-30% stalls that open for evening business. And yishun park and canberra HC has a lot of stalls that serve for dinner.

Western food business also very good, bought once doesn't like it.

Bought the pork chop and it was very hard.

Rasa sayang at the coffeeshop near AMK hub. The only place i eat porkchop.

But cannot dabao cos it will also toughen up in the packet due to residual heat.

Western food pork chop is like Fried rice lah. Really shows your skill of timing as a cook.

Not rocket science just hard to do cos residual heat dissipates differently in a container as opposed to an open plate. porkchop is lean so overcooks quite easily.

Probably the wild olive cook undercooks it slightly if it's a dabao. But it's not something most Cooks will do.

Bought from this stall :

Dinner at Geylang Lor 9 along East Coast Rd Fried Hokkien Mee and Fried Oysters.

OK, these done by a younger man (suspect it's the SIL). Both Hokkien Mee and Fried Oysters got QC issue.

Stock for the Hokkien Mee abit off, stale. Fried Oysters, though plump and juicy looking, not fresh. First time experienced this. Guess next time if see this younger cook, will skip.

Pork Satay is OK. Nothing to shout about but taste is acceptable.

Ended up with this Milo gao Iced. Felt better.

Best is supper. Cleansed all oily, stale aftertaste from dinner.

Stay safe all. That's another well rested weekend for me gone too fast.

Cheers
