I wonder how many Gen Xers remember this mag? I remember reading this mag in my teens at local book stores. But I wasn't into local indie music scene, so don't read much of it. But some of my music kaki then was quite siao on this magazine.

During its heyday, it documented emergence of local music scene and was an organic space for creative talents to work in

Eventually, BigO suffered the same fate as Fanfare weekly magazine. It had a good run.

Those old enough here to have read Fanfare, we know that we are a fine vintage.

Not many people appreciate local music scene or have an idea of the struggle for it to develop. Especially nowadays when the environment is already so liberal and accepting. But not back in those days 70's and 80's. Rock music was frowned upon as undesirable western influence. Males with long hair were served last at queues [laugh] How to have local indie rock music develop?

The better bands were able to swim against the tide and legislation, and still make a living. Kudos to them for the determination and passion to carry on. Some names that spring to mind are : The Quests, Jerry and New Faces, Tania, Western Union Band, Tony and Terry (Mortimer), The Trailers, The Thunderbirds, Black Dog Bone etc. I am sure fellow PG/Merdekas will know more bands from the 70s and 80s

O?😁

Before I Get Old , that is what the mag title meant [laugh]

A lyric from a song My Generation by the Who

"Hope I die before I get old"
