Do you all not find changing phone a hassle ? I mean the transferring of apps and data and setup.

Not for iphone.  Stack 2 phone together and it is done.

Only need to login again plus transfer song from Computer.

I think nowadays they have inbuilt transfer capabilities that take a lot of hassle out of changing phones. There would be some apps that will need logging in again, or manual installation, but that is more the exception than the norm. Unless you use a lot of those high security apps, then yea, hassle because every single one of them you will need to install, integrate, verify, login and what not, manually.

Seen quite a few threads on changing of iphone and transferring data.

I switched to using iCloud a few years back and had never looked back.

Yes, there is a monthly subscription fee, but there is no need to change devices (Macbook, ipad and iphone) every 2 years or so as hard disk space never ran out.

In the event the phone is lost, the data is intact too. Even if there is a need to change phone, the lowest capacity one would usually do as a lot of whatsapp chat log and photos are on cloud.

I do something similar on Android with a Microsoft launcher, tying everything to OneDrive and some, for additional space to Google Drive.

The Microsoft launcher saves your app list and layouts etc. making change from any Android to any Android really easy also. The trick is to remember signing out from bank apps on the old phone before trying to run on the new one.

Think nowadays change phone very easy since transferring of apps and setup fast and easy.

In theory it is seamless, but in practise it is not very.  One has to set up and login to every app again.  I remember the last time I transferred from an android phone to iphone, the whatsapp messages were lost and my mrs blamed me.

Judging from consensus, it seems that most people find it not a hassle to change and transfer phone, likely MCF are a IT centric lot.

The transfer experience has got better and better over the years, even layman also confident to do it.

In fact now iPhone also has a native migration ability to suck some of the important data and Whatsapp messages from Android phone over.

Native Android to Android or iP to iP is very very easy.

But yes many secure apps like ibanking and SingPass needs to relogin.

Oh I see.  Then yes, I would recommend getting a tablet because of it's size is bigger than phone, making it easier to see and use.  Tablets are either running Android or IOS, which personally I recommend the later, as it is easier to use for kids as compared to Android which is more customizable (is both a strength and weakness).  The ipad mini is a good candidate.

If you’re in the Mac ecosystem

it’s seamless

you would have made entire backups onto your 🖥️ and when you plug in your new phone all data and apps are transferred over

Maybe from iphone to android phone or android to iphone is more complicated. If to the same type of phone, should be seamless.

If android to iOS or iOS to android then will need more effort.

Yrs ago, it was troublesome but now quite simple, I always use Samsung, those which can backup to cloud, will auto backup regularly. Plug in type c in both new samsung and old samsung and initial the transfer then auto sync data from cloud. For the bank apps and some apps, just need to re-register or key in password, quite easy unless u have 20, 30 bank accounts, 20-30 email accounts, etc. Within hours, all done and all the interfaces, ringtone, notifications, wallpapers, etc are identical to old phone.  :D
