That's because we overpay our car.

Due to the overpayment, we sayang our precious car.

Just last week one ah pek lane split my stationary car knocked my mirror, fell to his right and knocked another stationary car before landing on the road.

Boh pian, came down help push the bike to the bus stop. My car some marks no dent. The ah pek's hand got small cuts. I didn't bother to exchange info and drove off. Hope his insurer doesn't come back to claim against me! My dash cam only captured the sounds.

Almost wanted to tell him no skills don't lane split, but the other driver already scolded him so I didn't say a thing.

A silly report, nothing new. Repeats every cycle when quota is low. Prices are a result of a low quota. And a low quota is a result of LTA screw ups.

The report was wrong, less people are scrapping their cars not because they are keeping their cars longer, because there are less cars due for scrap.

People can also scrap cars early when the new car prices are much lower than what their car export prices are. Not only when cars are due for scrap. We will see quite some of the 2022/23 cars scrapped come 2026/27 when coe falls.
then the quota for 2032/33 will be small again. And the cycle repeats. Unless LTA takes drastic action to prevent this. This famine and feast cycle will continue. Makes it very difficult to sustain car support operations like salesman, mechanics etc.

when car population is young, you need lots of salesman but less mechanics. But when the car population is older you need more mechanics and less salesman.

In the earlier days like 20 years ago when parf was higher for less than 5 years cars, but now i wonder who will scrap their car prematurely .

Those who scrap their car or cut down the number of car ownership per household, and not scrap the car to move on to other mode of transportation...be it B.M.W. or PMA PMD PAB etc...

Can even make a small windfall or at least breakeven with the car...

I see so many those Ps on pedestrian walkway these days...i tink one day there'll be jam or even erp gantry there...😂
