all ezlink cards got expiry...if simplygo is backward compatible, at most 1-2 years all the existing ezlink cards are gonna expire anyway

and like someone already pointed out, why cant we have 1 card/system that is acceptable by all: transport, parking, food outlets, convenience stores, etc. how many payment methods do we need anyway: paywave, paynow, cashcard, motoring card, SGQR, ezlink, flashpay, alipay, wechat...

This sounds like a typical boomer complaint 🤭

I have already switch to using newer ezlink cards that are able to topup using NFC or the ezlink app. Got long expiry dates 2028 to 2030. I have a passion card also with ezlink expire 2030. Can topup via app. Currently using two of such cards for IU.

I havent go to a topup machine for more than a year liao. I dunno why drivers still queue up to top up their cash cards. This is more convenient. Just use smartphone with NFC to topup. Within 10secs done. But must have at least 4G or 5G or wifi network connection. 3G cannot. If you are in a basement carpark with only 3G network you wont be able to topup.

I think they are talking about the old ezlink card that's not able to topup via app. Boh NFC wan. Those should be near expiry date liao.

I think in HK the so called Octopus card was good for most things …… anyways that was like 6-7 years back

If we can't see the balance inside the card when tapping, how are those parents with more than 2 kids to take care of their balances in their kids' ex link card xia...

These parents have enough headache to worry for their kids daily activities already...

My boy uses his student card for recess.

It was the best solution. But it slowed down the development of e-wallet in HK

i just know that simplygo was problematic the first time i used it.

i was without my nets flashpay and want to take LRT.

used my bank debit card, go in no problem.

but when exiting at destination, the gantry refused to open.

got an error msg asking me to refer to the staff, but it was after office hours in the evening with nobody manning LRT stations.

It's probably fine though for taking bus/MRT where there's a human there to assist should you get into this situation.

Just tried 6 to 7 times today, trying to link my CC to SimplyGo but fail on both mobile app and SimplGo website. 

Contacted SimplyGo customer service and was told that due to yesterday news, their IT system cannot take the heavy workload since this morning. 

Ask me to try again few days later............I was thinking WTF with these kind of BS??? 

SimplyGo is just Simply Not Ready

ikr...it's one card to rule them all

if only they allow octopus topping up with CC. not sure if they do now but they didnt before covid when limpeh went there for the 69th time
